GAME HIGHLIGHTS & NOTES
- The Stags took an early 1-0 lead as Kaley McMullen picked up a turnover deep in the Friars' defensive end.  She carried the ball a short distance before sending it to the middle of the circle for Emma Matlach, who put it into the back of the cage.
- Providence answered to tie the game, 1-1, just over 10 minutes later as freshman Amanda Collins (San Diego, Calif.) picked up her first collegiate goal.  She deflected the ball into the cage at the left post during a penalty corner. Collins' goal was assisted by sophomore Maddie Babineau (Milton, Ontario).
- Junior Mary O'Reilly (Longmeadow, Mass.) was credited with the eventual game-winning goal at 32:22.  During a scrum in front of the cage, she put her initial shot into the post. She collected her own rebound and tapped it into the cage for her second goal of the year.
- Providence led in shots (13-8) and shots on goal (8-6). The Stags held an 8-6 edge in penalty corners, including an 8-1 edge in the second half. The Friars turned away two of the Stags' eight corners in the final 1:20 of the game.
- The Friars held the Stags to just one goal in the game. It marks just the fifth time this season that Fairfield has scored one or fewer goals in a match.
