PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Providence College volleyball fell to St. John's at home on Oct. 5 at Alumni Hall. With the loss the Friars are now 7-9 on the season and are 1-4 in BIG EAST play.
FIRST SET HIGHLIGHTS:
- The Friars never lost the lead in the first set, winning 26-24.
- The Friars tallied two total team blocks.
- Impellizeri recorded at .715 hitting percentage in the first set.
- Allison Barber (Woodbury, Minn.) contributed to the Providence offense with 15 assists.
- Jenae Alderson (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) led the Friars' defense with six digs, to lead all players in the set.
- Barber and Sarah Daneliak (Naperville, Ill.) assisted the Friars' defense recording three digs apiece.
SECOND SET HIGHLIGHTS:
- Providence drops the second set, 25-23.
- Impellizeri led the Friar's offense with four kills, while Root was not far behind with three.
- Barber tallied 12 assists for the Friars in set two.
- Alderson and Taylor recorded six and five digs, respectively.
THIRD SET HIGHLIGHTS:
- The Friars fell in the third set, 25-21.
- Providence recorded two total team blocks.
- Root and Impellizeri each tallied four kills, to lead all players in the set.
- Barber recorded nine assists to contribute to the Friars' offense.
- Alderson, Root, Barber and Taylor all tallied three digs, respectively.
FOURTH SET HIGHLIGHTS:
- Providence fell in the fourth set, 25-18.
- The Friars' tallied three total team blocks.
- Root led the Friar's attack recording four kills.
- Barber recorded six assists and seven digs in the fourth set .
MATCH NOTES:
- The Friars fell to the Red Storm 3-1.
- As a team, Providence recorded 49 kills, 47 assists, 63 digs and eight total team blocks.
- Root led the Friars' offense recording 16 kills, while Impellizeri not far behind with 13 kills.
- Barber recorded a double-double with 42 assists and 15 digs.
- Alderson led the Friars on defense with 20 digs.
