Field Hockey Hosts 18th-Ranked Liberty In Regular-Season Finale

SCOUTING PROVIDENCE COLLEGE (11-6, 4-2 BIG EAST): Providence College enters its match-up against Liberty with an 11-6 overall record and a 4-2 mark in the BIG EAST Conference.  Last week, Providence defeated Georgetown, 2-1, in a shootout to earn its fourth conference victory and clinch a spot in the upcoming BIG EAST Tournament.  Three teams (Providence, Liberty and Connecticut) have qualified for the four-team tournament, and the fourth spot will be filled by the winner of the Old Dominion vs. Villanova game this weekend.
 
Providence started the season 0-3, but has won 11 of its last 14 games, including eight of its last nine.  The Friars' three losses in the 14-game stretch each came at the hands of a nationally-ranked opponent, including No. 14 Iowa (1-0), No. 15 Old Dominion (6-1) and No. 3 Connecticut (3-0).  Providence has posted a 3-0 record this season in overtime games, including its most recent win over Georgetown in a shootout (2-1).
 
Allyson Parker (Orange, Mass.) leads the Friars in scoring with 17 points on six goals and five assists.  Izzy Mendez (Cedar Grove, N.J.) ranks second with 15 points on a team-best seven goals and one assist.  Maddie Babineau (Milton, Ontario) has recorded 12 points on three goals and a team-high six assists, followed by Kara Sanford (Hazleton, Pa.) and Mary O'Reilly (Longmeadow, Mass.) with 10 points apiece.  Eight players on the roster have scored three-or-more goals through 17 games.
 
Lydia Rice has played 1,124 minutes in the cage for Providence.  She ranks 16thin the nation in goals against average (1.37) and 20thin save percentage (0.744).  Both totals rank second among BIG EAST Conference goalkeepers.  
 
SCOUTING #18 LIBERTY (11-5, 5-1 BIG EAST):Liberty enters Friday's game with an 11-5 overall record and a 5-1 mark in the BIG EAST Conference.  The Flames are currently ranked 18thin the Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I National Coaches' Poll and have secured a spot in the four-team BIG EAST Conference Field Hockey Championship, along with Connecticut and Providence. Liberty has posted a 4-3 record vs. nationally-ranked opponents this season, including a 2-1 victory over 11th-ranked Boston College in its most recent game (Oct. 21).
 
Agueda Moroni leads the nation in goals per game (1.44 gpg) and points per game (3.50 ppg).  In 16 matches this season, she has recorded 56 points on 23 goals and 10 assists. Jill Bolton is second on the team in scoring with 22 points on 10 goals and two assists.  Three other players have cracked double-digits in the points column, including Mallory Fortenbaugh (16 points), Alivia Klopp (11 points) and Kendra Jones (11 points).
 
As a team, Liberty ranks ninth in the nation in points per game (9.81 ppg) and seventh among NCAA Division I programs in goals per game (3.44 gpg).
 
Allison Schaefer has played 1,063 minutes in goal for Liberty this season and owns a 2.11 goal against average and a 0.663 save percentage.  She has collected two shut-out victories on the year against Ohio (7-0) and No. 22 Old Dominion (2-0).
