PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Providence College volleyball falls to Xavier 3-1 at home on Oct. 20 at Alumni Hall. With the loss the Friars are now 7-14 on the season and are 1-9 in BIG EAST play.
FIRST SET HIGHLIGHTS:
- The Friars were edged by the Musketeers, 25-23.
- The Friars recorded three total team blocks.
- Addison Root (Wichita, Kan.) and Jenae Alderson (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) led the Friars' attack with six kills apiece, to lead all players in the set.
- Allison Barber (Woodbury, Minn.) contributed to the offense tallying 14 assists, to lead all players in the set.
- Mackenzie Taylor (Holbrook, N.Y.) led the Friars' defense recording 10 digs, to lead all players in the set.
SECOND SET HIGHLIGHTS:
- Providence dropped the second set 25-22.
- Allison Impellizeri (Seaford, N.Y.) was the strong force for the Providence offense recording five kills and a hitting percentage of .833.
- Barber totaled 11 assists, leading all players in the set.
- Taylor tallied seven digs to also lead all players in the set.
THIRD SET HIGHLIGHTS:
- Providence went on a 10-1 scoring run (22-14) to dominate and win the third set, 25-17.
- The Friars held the Musketeers to a .143 hitting percentage.
- Impellizeri led the Friars' attack with five kills (.500 pct.) and led all players in the set.
- Lindsey Schaible (Tampa, Fla.) was not far behind recording four kills and a hitting percentage of .800.
- Barber led all players in the set with 14 assists.
- Taylor and Barber each contributed three digs to the Friars' defense.
FOURTH SET HIGHLIGHTS:
- The Friars dropped the fourth set to the Musketeers, 25-23.
- Providencetallied two total team blocks.
- Alderson and Impellizeri led the Providence offense with four kills apiece.
- Barber recorded 13 assists to lead all players in the fourth set.
- Taylor and Megan Onyundo (Woodbridge, Va.) led the Providence defense with four and three kills, respectively.
MATCH NOTES:
- The Friars fell to the Musketeers, 3-1.
- As a team, Providence recorded 59 kills, 56 assists, 57 digs and six total team blocks.
- The Friars had three players tally double-digit kills.
- Impellizeri led the Friars' offense recording 16 kills (.419 pct.), to lead all players in the match.
- Alderson and Root were not far behind with 15 and 14 kills, respectively.
- Barber recorded 52 assists to lead all players in the match.
- Taylor led the Friars on defense with 24 digs to lead all players in the match.
