Volleyball Defeats DePaul In Straight Sets

The Friars take the match in straight sets against DePaul on the road on Oct. 26 in Chicago, Ill.

CHICAGO, ILL. – Providence College volleyball defeats DePaul on the road on Oct. 26 in Chicago, Ill. With the win the Friars are now 8-14 on the season and are 2-9 in BIG EAST play.
 
FIRST SET HIGHLIGHTS: 
  • The Friars took the first set against the Blue Demons, 25-20. 
 
  • Providence held DePaul to a .111 hitting percentage.
 
  • Allison Impellizeri (Seaford, N.Y.) led the Friars' attack recording four kills and a hitting percentage of .800.
   
  • Barber tallied nine assists in the first set.
 
  • Mackenzie Taylor (Holbrook, N.Y.) and Addison Root (Wichita, Kan.) led the Providence defense, recording five and three digs, respectively.
 
SECOND SET HIGHLIGHTS:
  • Providence came back after an unsteady start to set two, to win the set 26-24.
 
  • The Friars recorded three total team blocks.
 
  • Root was the strong force for the Providence offense in set two, tallying eight kills.
 
  •  Alderson and Schaible were not far behind with four and two kills apiece.  
 
  • Barber contributed to the Friars' attack recording 15 assists, to lead all players in the set.
 
  • Taylor and Alderson led the Providence defense tallying three and two digs, respectively.  
 
THIRD SET HIGHLIGHTS:
  • The Friars claimed the third set against the Blue Demons, 25-23.
 
  • Root and Impellizeri led the Friars' attack recording four kills apiece.
 
  • Sarah Daneliak (Naperville, Ill.) and Alderson contributed to the Providence offense with three and two kills, respectively.  
 
  • Barber recorded 13 assists in the third set.
 
  • Taylor tallied five digs, to lead the Friars' defense.
 
MATCH NOTES:
  • The Friars took the victory over the Blue Demons, 3-0.
 
  • As a team, Providence recorded 44 kills, 44 assists, 45 digs and five total team blocks.  
 
  • Root led the Friars' offense recording 12 kills, to lead all players in the match.
 
  •  Impellizeri was not far behind with nine kills and a hitting percentage of .562.
 
  • Barber recorded 37 assists, to lead all players in the match.
 
  • Taylor led the Providence defense with 13 digs.
