GAME FLOW & NOTES
- At the conclusion of the first half, Providence led 5-3 in shots. Neither team recorded a shot on goal in the opening 45 minutes.
- Brown's best chance of the half came in the 37th minute, when Daniel Schiller ripped a shot from the left side of the box. His blast sailed over the bar.
- In the final minute of the half, the Friars earned a free kick just outside the box. Gil Santos (Parede, Portugal) drilled a shot into the wall. He recollected the ball and took another shot, which was again blocked by the Bears defense.
- In the 66th minute, Santos had another great chance for Providence. He turned in the center of the field and took a shot that dipped all the way in but went just over the cross bar.
- Providence's shutout streak was snapped after 353 minutes of holding opponents scoreless. In the 69th minute, Brown converted on a corner kick to take a 1-0 lead. Schiller played the ball in and it was bobbled around the box before Joseph Lee was able to head it home.
- Providence poured on the pressure late in the game, highlighted by multiple chances in the closing ten minutes. The Friars had three corner kicks and several close chances, including a bicycle kick by Santos that just missed the upper 90 at the far post.
- Matt DePerro (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) was the other Friar with a great chance, but the Brown defense stifled his opportunity.
- The Friars led in shots (12-6) and corners (10-4).
