Scouting the Pirates
Seton Hall enters the match at 4-3-2 overall and 1-2-1 in conference play. The Pirates are currently tied for sixth place in the BIG EAST. Most recently (Oct. 6), the Pirates battled to a 1-1 tie with DePaul. Seton Hall scored late in the first half, but DePaul struck in the 59
th minute to force the tie. Seton Hall's lone BIG EAST win came at home against Marquette (2-0). The Pirates have scored the fewest goals in the league this season (nine), but have also allowed the second fewest (nine).
CJ Tibbling leads Seton Hall offensively. He has nine points on four goals and one assist. Nico Andersen (one goal, three assists) and Carlton McKenzie (two goals, one assist) have five points apiece. McKenzie leads the league in shots per game, averaging 4.0. In net, sophomore Andreas Nota has started all nine games. He holds a 0.94 goals against average and a 0.816 save percentage with two shutouts. His goals against average ranks fourth in the BIG EAST, while he is second in the league in save percentage.
Scouting the Friars
Providence is 6-4-1 overall and 3-1-0 in BIG EAST play. The Friars currently sit in second place in league standings. Last Saturday (Oct. 6) the Friars defeated Marquette, 1-0.
Gil Santos (Parede, Portugal) scored the game-winning goal in the 90
th minute to give Providence its third-consecutive win. His goal, which was a header off of a free kick, was assisted by
Joao Serrano (Evora, Portugal).
Colin Miller (Bel Air, Md.) made four saves in his fourth shutout of the season. Santos was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week and Miller was tabbed BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week.
Tiago Mendonca (Faro, Portugal) leads the Friars in points (eight) and goals (4). Santos is close behind with seven points on three goals and an assist. Fellow freshman
Andualem Chisholm (Attleboro, Mass.) has two goals, an assist and five points. In net, Miller holds a 1.23 goals against average and a .708 save percentage. He's started all 11 games and has four shutouts.
Shutout Streak
Providence has not allowed a goal since the 88
th minute at Butler (Sept. 22). The Friars have held opponents scoreless for 182:18 consecutive minutes.
One-Goal Games
Through 11 games, seven of the Friars' contests have been decided by just one goal. Five of those seven have been wins, including the recent 1-0 victory over Marquette (Oct. 6).
Friars Versus Ranked Opponents
Providence has picked up victories over two top-25 opponents so far this season. The Friars defeated then-No. 8 SMU in double overtime, 2-1 (Aug. 24). More recently, Providence took down then-No. 22 Xavier by a score of 2-0 (Sept. 29).
Stacking Up Against the BIG EAST
Providence is currently fourth in the BIG EAST in shots (153) and shutouts (four). The Friars are also tied for fourth in corner kicks, averaging 5.73 per game.
In terms of individuals, Mendonca ranks tied for eighth in the league in goals with four. Santos is tied for third in game-winning goals (two). In conference games only, Santos is the leader in points per game (2.33) and goals per game (1.00).
Freshmen Impact
The Friars' roster features ten newcomers for the 2018 season. Six of the ten have seen action for the Friars.
Ramzi Qawasmy (Landsdale, Pa.) has started all eleven games at center back, totaling 1,027 minutes on the season. Chisholm has made four starts and eight total appearances. He was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week after a three-point weekend (Sept. 10).
Santos has come alive in league play, making three of his four appearances on the season. He's scored three goals and added one assist in just four games. He leads the BIG EAST in points in conference play (seven) and goals in conference (three).
Kevin Vang (Cranston, R.I.),
Raimondo Partito (Philadelphia, Pa.) and
Christopher Roman (Glastonbury, Conn.) are the other Friars who have seen time on the pitch. Vang has made five starts in ten appearances, while Partito and Roman have each come off the bench.

The Friars remain on the road but return close to home with a non-conference game at Brown on Tuesday, Oct. 16. Kick-off is set for 7:00 p.m.
