Softball Set To Take On Butler University

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College Softball is set to play a weekend series against Butler University on April 8-9. The Friars will play at 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 8. Providence will then finish the series with a game on Sunday, April 9 at 12:00 p.m.

Providence last played against Brown University on April 5. Providence defeated the Bears 10-0 in five innings.

Nicole Lundstrom (Rehoboth, Mass.) and Emma Lee (Orange, Calif.) have been the leaders of the Providence offense this season. Both Lundstrom leads the Friars in batting average (.360), runs (26) and home runs (4) while also totaling 16 RBI. Lee leads Providence in hits (37) and doubles (6) while also batting .356.

Brittany Veler (Santa Rosa, Calif.) and Paige Mulry (Warrenville, Ill.) have also played key roles for Providence. Veler is currently batting .299 with 26 hits, 5 doubles, 2 triple, 1 homerun and 23 RBI. Rurka is batting .282 with 22 hits, 2 homeruns and 17 RBI.

In total, Providence has six Friars with at least 10 RBI. Joining Lundstrom (16), Veler (23), and Mulry (17) is Julianne Rurka (Warrenville, Ill.) (12), Vanessa Portillo (Chatsworth, Calif.) (15) and Nadia Kemp (Wappinger's Falls, N.Y.) (10).

Christina Ramirez (Niceville, Fla.) has been the ace of the pitching staff this season. Ramirez has started 18 games this season and has a record of 8-9 and an ERA of 4.07. Ramirez has pitched 15 complete games this season and has totaled 60 strike outs while holding opponents to a .271 batting average.

SCOUTING BUTLER UNIVERSITY: The Butler University Bulldogs have a 16-17 record on the season with a 4-1 record in the BIG EAST. Butler last played a weekend series against Villanova University on April 1-2. The Bulldogs swept the three game series against the Wildcats.

Jenna Foreman and Sarah Dixon have been the leaders of the Bulldogs offense. Foreman is leading the team in batting average (.418), hits (38) and runs (24). Dixon is batting .347 with 35 hits, 5 doubles, 2 triples, 3 homeruns and 18 homeruns.

The ace of the Butler pitching staff has been Gabbi Schnaiter. Schnaiter has started 14 games and has a record of 6-8 on the season with an ERA of 3.98. Boroff has also been an important member of the pitching staff, starting 10 games and having a record of 5-4 on the season with an ERA of 3.89.
