PROVIDENCE, R.I. – It was announced on Thursday (April 7) that Providence College junior goaltender Nick Ellis (Millersville, Md.) has signed a two-year entry level contract with the Edmonton Oilers.

Ellis becomes the eighth member of the 2015-16 Friars to ink either an entry level contract or amateur try-out agreement since the conclusion of the season.

In 48 career games, Ellis posted a 30-9-5 record with a 1.90 GAA and .931 save percentage, with 25 of those victories coming in 2015-16 in his first season as a starter.

Ellis earned Honorable Mention Hockey East All-Star recognition and put forth the best season ever by a Friar goaltender with a 1.80 GAA and .936 save percentage, which currently rank third overall in the NCAA.

The junior was a two-time Defensive Player of the Week honoree this season and a two-time Hockey East Goaltender of the Month honoree after stellar performances during the months of December and February. His 54 saves against Minnesota Duluth in the first round of this year's NCAA Tournament set a Northeast Regional record.

Since Feb. 1, Ellis led all NCAA goaltenders with a 1.11 GAA and .958 save percentage.
