PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Former Friar defenseman Mark Adams (Boxford, Mass.) has signed with the Manchester Monarchs, the ECHL affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, as announced by the team on Wednesday (Sept. 2).

Originally a fifth round draft pick (134th overall) of the Buffalo Sabres in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Adams concluded his career at Providence with two goals and six assists in 98 career games on the Friar blueline.

Adams appeared in all four NCAA Tournament contests last spring, as the Friars captured their first ever NCAA title with a dramatic 4-3 win over Boston University on April 11.

Due to AHL realignment, the reigning Calder Cup Champion Monarchs will be part of the ECHL beginning in 2015-16. Adams and the Monarchs will begin play at home on October 16 against the Brampton Beast.
