PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College men's ice hockey team received their national championship rings on Friday, August 14 at a ceremony on the lawn next to the Slavin Center. Providence College President Rev. Brian Shanley, O.P., Athletics Director Bob Driscoll and Head Coach Nate Leaman presented the rings to the members of the team.
Providence captured the 2015 NCAA title after it defeated the Boston University Terriers,4-3, on April 11 at the TD Garden in Boston on the strength of a an exhilarating third period comeback that culminated in forward Brandon Tanev's (Toronto, Ontario) game-winning goal scored with just over six minutes to play. Goaltender Jon Gillies made a career-high 49 saves en route to being named the Frozen Four's Most Outstanding Player, while defenseman Anthony Florentino and junior forward Mark Jankowski joined Gillies on the All-Tournament Team.
