Cox Sports Friar Golf Classic Raises Over $150,000

WARWICK, R.I. -
On Wednesday, June 10 the Providence College Athletic Department held its annual Cox Sports Friar Golf Classic at Warwick Country Club in Warwick, R.I. The sold out event raised more than $150,000 that will directly enhance the experience of every student-athlete at Providence College.
Providence College Athletics would like to thank Cox Sports, the title sponsor for this event, as well as presenting sponsors, ABM, Atlantic Development Group, Learfield Sports and Hannoush Jewelers.
This year's outing also featured three supporting sponsors, The Rinx, Sullivan Tire and East Commerce Solutions.
Guests enjoyed iced coffee and donuts, compliments of Todd Wallace '88 and Dunkin Donuts, in the morning and then were treated to steaks and oysters on the course, courtesy of Capital Grille. On course beverages were provided by Coca Cola and Mark Gasbarro '97 from Gasbarro Wines on Federal Hill. All signage was donated generously by Graphic Innovations.
Player gifts were sponsored by Lynne Berard '93 and Samsonite, as well as Nike and Titleist.
Participants at the event had the opportunity to meet Athletic Director Bob Driscoll and interact with coaches and student-athletes at various holes on the course. Following golf, a dinner was held where Head Men's Ice Hockey Coach Nate Leaman and Head Men's Basketball Coach Ed Cooley spoke to the guests.The 2015 Men's Ice Hockey National Championship trophy also was on site for guests to have their photo taken with.
The 2015 Cox Sports Donor of the Year was presented to Tom Palamara '80, whose leadership and support of the women's ice hockey program and the renovation to Schneider Arena has helped transform the landscape of Friar athletics.
The winning foursome will travel to Pinehurst Country Club to compete in the annual Acura Alumni Championship in October.
