Friar fans had the opportunity to play elite golf courses and support Providence College Athletics.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Providence College Athletics kicked off the 2026 golf tournament fundraising season with a series of special events, bringing together students, alumni, families and supporters. These gatherings directly benefit Providence College Athletics and the men's basketball program.

The week began with the Class of 2030 Welcome Party hosted by Karl '88 and Kerry '88 Anderson. This annual tradition welcomed incoming freshmen from the Fairfield County area for an evening of connection and camaraderie. Providence College men's basketball Head Coach Bryan Hodgson met with incoming families, providing students with an exclusive preview of the upcoming season and joining them in the excitement of becoming the newest members of the Friar Family.

The following day, Athletic Director Steve Napolillo, Coach Hodgson and members of the men's basketball coaching staff joined alumni, parents and donors at the iconic Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck, N.Y, for a special gathering. Supporters also heard from Dink Pate, a Dallas native and standout recruit coming from the Westchester Knicks of the NBA G League, who will join the Friars for the 2026–27 season.

Concluding the events, supporters teed off at the Men's Basketball Spring Vision Cup presented by Santander at The Stanwich Club in Greenwich, Conn. The first in a series of Vision Cup outings supporting the men's basketball program, this year's event featured 18-holes of golf followed by a luncheon with Coach Hodgson. Funds raised from the event and live auction directly support the men's basketball program.

"We are entering a new era of Friar Men's Basketball under the leadership of Head Coach Bryan Hodgson," Athletic Director Steve Napolillo said. "The energy surrounding this program and the passion Coach Hodgson, his staff, and our incoming recruits bring is special. Dink Pate's remarks energized the room and highlighted the commitment and strength of our incoming recruiting class. We are grateful to our hosts at Winged Foot, our presenting sponsor Santander, and to Karl and Kerry Anderson for their decades of unwavering support of our program."

"I'm honored and humbled to connect with supporters who share such a deep passion for Providence College," Head Coach Bryan Hodgson said. "Being a Friar means something deeper, and the excitement and loyalty surrounding this program are unmatched. We're ready to build on the incredible tradition of Friar Basketball and execute our shared vision of competing for BIG EAST and national championships as we enter the 100th year of Friar men's basketball."
