PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College men's hockey team finds themselves at No. 3 in both national polls this week, a one-slot drop despite a 4-1 win over Holy Cross last Saturday. Providence earned 12 and nine first-place votes respectively in the USCHO.com and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Polls.

A 4-0-0 start by the Mavericks of Nebraska-Omaha has vaulted them into the No. 1 slot in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Poll and into the No. 2 position in the USCHO.com poll. North Dakota remains in the top position in the USCHO.com poll, while slipping to No. 2 in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll.

Led by Nick Ellis (31 saves), Jake Walman (goal, assist), and Mark Jankowski (goal, assist), the Friars scored the 4-1 win over the Crusaders in an electric night at Schneider Arena as the team raised the national championship banner prior to the game.

The third-ranked Friars return to action this weekend with a two-game set against Ohio State at Schneider Arena. Puck drop is slated for 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
