Former Providence College men's hockey standouts Jon DiSalvatore `02 and Mark Fayne `10 each have signed professional contracts. DiSalvatore signed with the NHL's Minnesota Wild, while Fayne signed with the AHL's Albany Devils.
For DiSalvatore, it will mark his second stint in the NHL as he played for the St. Louis Blues in 2005-06. During his four-year career at Providence College, DiSalvatore played in 148 games and recorded 59 goals and 83 assists for 142 points, which ranks 18th all-time in PC's career scoring list. In his final season, he led the team in scoring with a career-high 48 points (19 goals, 29 assists) and finished fourth in the league in overall scoring with 48 points. For his efforts, he earned Hockey East Honorable Mention accolades.
Fayne played four years at PC and was named the team's Ron Wilson Best Defensive Player each season. In his final season, Fayne earned Hockey East Honorable Mention accolades as he finished with 22 points on five goals and a career-high 17 assists. Fayne also was the recipient of the Mike Boback Award for most assists (17) in 2010.
