PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Senior Marshon Brooks (Stone Mountain, Ga.) scored a team-best 25 points to lead the Providence College men's basketball team (11-2) to a 84-76 victory over Sacred Heart (4-8) Wednesday night at the Dunkin Donuts Center.

Brooks also pulled 12 rebounds to tie a career-high as he recorded his sixth double-double on the year. The guard also scored 25-points or more for the seventh-consecutive game.

Sophomores Vincent Council (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Bilal Dixon (Jersey City, N.J.) also finished in double figures, finishing with 16 and 11 points, respectively.

With the win, PC improved to 4-0 all-time against Sacred Heart and 10-0 at the Dunkin' Donuts Center.

No team led by more than three points in the first 10 minutes of the game. Over the next 2:15, PC went on to open up its largest lead of the first half thanks to a 9-2 run, which gave the Friars a 27-19 advantage with 7:45 to go until the break.

Less than a minute later, Sacred Heart cut PC's lead to just three points. The Friars would go on to hold a lead by at least five points until the 1:24 mark in the first half when the Pioneers cut the Friars' lead to just two points.

PC would hang on to a three-point lead heading into the locker room, outrebounding Sacred Heart, 18-12.

Brooks led all PC scorers at the break with 19 points as he connected on 7-of-9 shots from the field, including a perfect 3-of-3 from the beyond the arc.

In the second half, the Friars opened up a 65-53 advantage at the 12-minute mark and appeared to have the game in hand.

Sacred Heart would not go away as they cut the Friars' lead to three (73-70) with 4:34 remaining in the game, outscoring the Friars 17-8 during the stretch. The Pioneers also held the Friars without a field goal for nearly four minutes to climb back into the game.

Duke Mondy snapped the Friars scoreless streak as he connected on a 3-pointer from the corner to make the score 76-60 with 3:33 remaining.

The Pioneers cut the PC's lead to three at 77-74, but the Friars increased their lead to five thanks to a thunderous one-hand dunk by Dixon to make the score 79-74 with just under a minute to go. The Friars went on to outscore the Pioneers 84-76.

PC returns to action on Tuesday as it heads to Syracuse to take on the Orange. Tipoff is set for 9 p.m. The game can be seen live on ESPNU.
