Former Friar Standout Chris Terreri Earns Hockey East's 25th Anniversary Top Individual Performance

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- - The Hockey East Association announced today that former Providence College hockey goaltender Chris Terreri (Warwick, R.I.) earned the top individual performance during the 25th Anniversary Celebration. The voting was comprised of Hockey East fans and members of the league's 25th Anniversary Committee.

Terreri recorded a 65-save performance in Hockey East's inaugural championship game on March 16, 1985 against Boston College. The Friars earned a 2-1 double overtime victory over the Eagles as Steve Rooney scored the game winner and current Friar Head Coach Tim Army setup up the winning goal. Terreri also helped the Friars reach the 1985 Frozen Four Championship game.

It marks Terreri's second honor during the Hockey East 25th Anniversary Celebration. Terreri also was named the league's top all-time goaltender on November 6.

Terreri holds PC records for saves (1,418), games played in a season (41) and minutes played in a season (2,512). In 1985, he was named Most Valuable Player in the Hockey East and NCAA tournaments. He earned 1985 Hockey East Player of The Year honors and was named to the Hockey East 10th anniversary team, 1985 All-New England squad and was a Hobey Baker Finalist.

A two-time All-American, Terreri had a 3.18 career goals against average in 88 games with a record of 42-36-5 and played in two NCAA Tournaments. In addition, his outstanding achievements on the ice, Terreri was an excellent student, being honored as a member of the 1984 and 1986 College Hockey Statistics Bureau All-Academic Team and the GTE/CoSIDA Academic All-American Teams in both 1985 and 1986. Terreri was named the Providence College Male Athlete of the Year in 1985. He also was a member of the 1988 United States Olympic Team. Terreri owns two Stanley Cup Championship rings with the Devils. He is a member of the PC Athletic Hall of Fame.
