PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Providence College men's hockey team dropped to No. 17 in the USCHO.com/CSTV Poll and fell out of the top-15 in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Poll, which were released on Monday, February 20.

The Friars split a pair of games against Northeastern last week. On Thursday, February 16, the Friars were defeated by the Huskies, 2-1, at Matthews Arena in Boston. After two scoreless periods, the Friars took a 1-0 lead with 7:31 remaining in the third period as sophomore Jon Rheault (Deering, N.H.) scored on the power-play. It marked Rheault's seventh power-play tally and his career-high 13th goal of the season. However, moments later Northeastern responded with a short-handed goal to tie the game and notched the game winner with 1:35 left. In goal, sophomore Tyler Sims (Fort Worth, Texas) made 24 saves.

On Friday, February 17 at PC's Schneider Arena, the Friars avenged the loss from the previous night with a 2-1 triumph over the Huskies. Freshman defenseman Cody Wild (North Providence, R.I.) scored his sixth goal of the season to give PC a 1-0 first period lead. Classmate Kyle Laughlin (Gambrills, Md.) also recorded his sixth tally of the season early in the second period as the Friars built their lead to 2-0. Northeastern made the score 2-1 near the halfway point of the second period, but the Friars held on for the win as Sims finished with 20 saves. Junior Colin McDonald (Wethersfield, Conn.) recorded two assists.

Providence is back in action on Friday, February 24 against No. 14/14 New Hampshire at PC's Schneider Arena.
