POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Providence College volleyball team (1-14) lost a pair of matches Friday afternoon in Day One action at the Marist Tournament. The Friars lost to Fairleigh Dickinson, 3-0, this afternoon by scores of 30-25, 30-28 and 30-22. PC later lost to host Marist, 3-1, by scores of 30-26, 30-15, 20-30 and 30-13.
In the first match against the Knights, freshman Nonie Ferguson (Davie, Fla.) tallied a match-high 11 kills for the Friars. Senior captain Allison Baker (Glastonbury, Conn.) also had an impressive match totaling nine kills and eight digs. Senior captain Annie Fiorvanti (Northport, N.Y.) posted a team-high 19 assists.
In the second match against the Red Foxes, freshman Aida Cadres (Los Angeles, Calif.) posted eight kills along with Fiorvanti. Baker had a team-high nine kills. Fiorvanti also chipped in 19 assists, while freshman Amanda Little (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) had 15 digs.
Providence volleyball returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 24th as the Friars remain in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. for the Marist Tournament. PC will take on Princeton beginning at 12:00 p.m.
