PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College volleyball team (2-15) knocked off Fairleigh Dickinson (7-11) by the score of 3-0, this evening at PC's Mullaney Gymnasium inside Alumni Hall. PC earned its second victory of the year with game scores of 30-18, 30-19 and 30-24.
The Friars were led by senior captain Allison Baker (Glastonbury, Conn.) who totaled a match-high 16 kills along with 11 digs to notch her fifth double-double of the season. Baker also posted a match-high hitting percentage of .295, and recorded PC's highest three-game kill total of the season with 16 kills.
Senior captain Annie Fiorvanti (Northport, N.Y.) totaled a match-high 24 assists to go along with 17 digs notching her eighth double-double of the year, while freshman Amanda Little (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) had a team-high 18 digs. Sophomore Kasey Adinolfi (Branford, Conn.) also had a double-digit dig total with 13, as the Friars totaled four players with 10 or more digs for the third time this season. PC also had 86 digs for the match, its third highest total of the 2005 campaign.
With the win, Providence snapped a four-match losing streak against the Knights, dating back to last season.
Providence volleyball returns to action on Friday, Sept. 30th as the Friars travel to Hartford. The match is slated to begin at 7:00 p.m.
