BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. - The Providence College volleyball team (6-24) split a pair of matches at the Gardner-Webb Tournament on Saturday afternoon. PC defeated Gardner-Webb (9-26) by the score of 3-2 in their first match of the day. The Friars then lost to Lenoir-Rhyne (21-11) by the score of 3-0 in their second match of the day. PC placed two players on the All-Tournament team as seniors Annie Fiorvanti (Northport, N.Y.) and Allison Baker (Glastonbury, Conn.) each earned the accolades.

In the 3-2 win over Gardner-Webb, Baker totaled 11 kills and 13 digs while Fiorvanti added 35 assists. Four PC players registered 10 or more assists including freshman Amanda Little (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) who totaled a team-high 15 digs. As a team, the Friars had 10.0 blocks and 66 digs.

In the 3-0 loss to Lenoir-Rhyne, PC was led by Fiorvanti's 27 assists and 10 digs. Baker had a team-high 10 kills, and Little a team-high 17 digs.

Providence volleyball returns to action on Thursday, Nov. 10. Traveling to Colorado, the Friars will participate in the National Independent Volleyball Tournament with five matches over three days. PC's first match will take place at 3:00 p.m. EDT against South Dakota State. The tournament will be hosted by Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colo.
