PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Providence College men's hockey coach Tim Army announced today that student athlete Mark Fayne (Sagamore Beach, Mass.) has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Providence College, beginning in 2006-07.
Fayne is a 6-foot-3 inch, 210-pound defenseman who was drafted by the New Jersey Devils in the fifth round (155th overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. He currently plays for Noble and Greenough School in Dedham, Mass. Last season as a junior, Fayne recorded 17 points (one goal, 16 assists) in 17 games. This season, Fayne will serve as team captain. He is the son of Karen and Mark Fayne.
"Mark has great size and range, but complements that with great mobility and puck skills," Head Coach Tim Army said. "He is a terrific athlete, who will develop into an outstanding college defenseman," Army added. "We are excited about having Mark as part of our program and he will have a big impact as we redefine our style of play."
