PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College women's basketball team fell to Georgetown, 87-30, in BIG EAST Conference action on Saturday, January 29 at Alumni Hall in Providence, R.I. Five players on Georgetown's roster reached double figures in scoring led by Kieraah Marlow's 20 points. Marlow also pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds for a double-double. Sophomore Shauna Snyder (Albuquerque, N.M.) was the only Friar to reach double digits in scoring with 13 points.

The Hoyas started the game on a 22-2 scoring run to take a 20-point lead during the opening 7:38 of the first half. The Friars cut the lead to 14 (28-14) on a 12-6 run with 6:53 on the clock. Georgetown responded with a 12-4 scoring advantage to finish the half. The Hoyas led 40-18 at the break.

In the second half, Georgetown held Providence to 3-of-30 (10-percent) shooting from the floor and outscored PC 47-12 to earn an 87-30 victory. PC's 30 points are the fewest scored in a single game in the history of the program. The Friars shot 19-percent (11-58) from the field for the game, including 4-of-22 (18.2-percent) from the three-point arc. The Hoyas shot 54.9-percent (39-71) from the floor en route to the 57-point victory.

Bethany LeSueur scored 14 points for Georgetown, pulled down eight rebounds and dished out a game-high five assists. Also reaching double figures for the Hoyas were Varda Tamoulianis (12 points), Mary Lisicky (11 points) and Kate Carlin (11 points). Kristin Heidloff matched LeSueur's five assists and added seven points, six rebounds and two steals.

Freshman Ciara Shields (Brooklyn, N.Y.) grabbed a team-high five rebounds for PC in 17 minutes off the bench. Sophomore Jill Furstenburg (Whitehouse Station, N.J.) added nine points, all of which came in the first half.

Providence College (1-17, 0-7 BIG EAST) returns to action on Wednesday, February 2 at 7:00 p.m. against St. John's. The game is scheduled to be played in Jamaica, N.Y. on the campus of St. John's University.
