FRIDAY'S GAME... Friday's game is the Friars' 38th game of the season and first game at a neutral site.

PC IN THE HOCKEY EAST TOURNAMENT... PC holds an all-time mark of 21-19-1 in HOCKEY EAST Tournament games. PC has won two HOCKEY EAST titles (1985 and 1996). The last time PC advanced to the FleetCenter, the Friars defeated BU in the Semifinals and Maine in the Finals (3-2) in 1996.

PC IN THE HOCKEY EAST SEMIFINALS... Friday's game will mark the ninth time in the 15-year history of the league PC has advanced to the HOCKEY EAST Semifinals. In the eight semifinal games PC has played, the Friars have posted a 3-5 record. Tonight, the Friars will be playing in their first HOCKEY EAST Semifinal since March 15, 1996 when PC defeated BU, 5-4.

PC ALL-TIME IN HOCKEY EAST TOURN. AT THE FLEET... The Friars have posted a 2-0 mark all-time in HOCKEY EAST Tournament games at the FleetCenter. In PC's last game at the FleetCenter, the Friars defeated Maine, 3-2, on March 16, 1996 to win the HOCKEY EAST title.

PC VS. UNH IN THE HOCKEY EAST TOURNAMENT... Providence and New Hampshire have met six times in the HOCKEY EAST Tournament. PC holds a 3-3 mark against the Wildcats in HOCKEY EAST Tournament action, including a 0-1 record in the Semifinals. PC's last win against UNH in the HOCKEY EAST Tournament was a 3-2 overtime win in a one-game Quarterfinal series in 1995 at BC's Conte Forum. The Friars' last loss to the Wildcats in HOCKEY EAST Tournament play was a 5-3 defeat in the Semifinals in 1992 at the Boston Garden.

PROVIDENCE ON FOX SPORTS NEW ENGLAND... This season, the Friars have registered a 2-0 mark in games televised on Fox Sports New England. In their first appearance on Fox this season, PC defeated Boston College, 3-0, at BC's Conte Forum on Jan. 22. In their only other appearance this season on Fox, the Friars won their HOCKEY EAST Quarterfinal series with a 5-1 win against Boston University at PC's Schneider Arena on March 14.

PROVIDENCE-NEW HAMPSHIRE ALL-TIME SERIES... Friday's game is the 100th meeting between the two schools. Providence holds a 42-47-10 mark in the all-time series. The two teams first met on February 12, 1927 with New Hampshire defeating Providence, 5-1, at the Rhode Island Auditorium. The loss to the Wildcats was one of seven defeats the Friars suffered in their first season of collegiate competition (1-7-0). PC's last win against New Hampshire was a 6-1 victory at Schneider Arena on Nov. 6, 1998. The Friars' last loss to the Wildcats was a 4-2 defeat at the Whittemore Center on Jan. 30, 1999.

THIS SEASON VS. NEW HAMPSHIRE... PC has recorded a 1-2 mark versus the Wildcats this season. On Nov. 6, PC defeated UNH, 6-1, at Schneider Arena. The win ended the Friars' four-game losing streak against the Wildcats and gave the team its first victory against UNH since a 3-2 win at Schneider Arena on Feb. 15, 1997. Mike Omicioli tallied two goals to lead the offense. Troy Lake, Doug Sheppard, Jerry Keefe and Marc Suderman also scored for the Friars. Boyd Ballard made 30 stops in goal. The following night, the Wildcats defeated the Friars, 3-1, at the Whittemore Center. Jason Ialongo netted the lone goal for the Friars. Ballard recorded 33 saves for the Friars. In the final meeting of the regular season between the two teams, UNH defeated PC, 4-2, at the Whittemore Center. Fernando Pisani and Keefe each scored for the Friars. Ballard registered 24 saves in net.

FRIARS WIN QUARTERFINAL SERIES, 2-1... On March 12-14, the Friars played the BU Terriers in a best of three HOCKEY EAST Quarterfinal series at PC's Schneider Arena. On March 14, PC defeated BU, 5-1, in the third game to clinch the Quarterfinal series. It marked the first time PC had won a HOCKEY EAST Quarterfinal series since 1996 when PC defeated BC in two games. Junior Doug Sheppard, senior Jon Cameron, junior Josh MacNevin, junior Nick Lent and senior Troy Lake all scored for PC in the 5-1 victory. Sophomore goaltender Boyd Ballard registered 14 saves in the win. On March 13, BU defeated the Friars, 8-2, to even the HOCKEY EAST Quarterfinal series at 1-1. Lent and junior Jerry Keefe scored for the Friars. Ballard and senior Mark Kane combined to make 21 saves. On Friday, PC defeated BU, 8-2, to earn its first HOCKEY EAST Tournament win since 1996. Sheppard led the Friars with two goals. Freshman Drew Omicioli, sophomore Matt Libby, senior Mike Omicioli, junior Fernando Pisani, senior Jon Coe and Lake also scored for the Friars. Ballard recorded 29 saves in net.

FRIAR FIRST WITH FIVE WINS AGAINST BU... On Sunday, the Friars defeated the Terriers, 5-1, in the third game of the HOCKEY EAST Quarterfinal series to earn their fifth win of the season against BU. It marked the first time in 48 seasons of Providence College hockey that the Friars earned five wins against the Terriers in one season.

FRIARS VS. RANKED TEAMS... PC has posted a 2-6-1 mark this season against top-10 teams. The Friars' wins against ranked teams this season were against Boston College (3-0) on Jan. 22 and New Hampshire (6-1) on Nov. 6.

HOCKEY EAST COACHES' POLL... For the third consecutive season, the Friars were picked to finish fifth by the league's nine head coaches in their preseason balloting. With PC's 5-5 tie against BC on Feb. 23, the Friars clinched fourth place for the third time in the last four years.

HEAD COACH PAUL POOLEY... Is the 10th coach in the history of Providence College hockey. Since 1994, Pooley has compiled an 85-86-14 record and brought the Friars to two HOCKEY EAST Finals and one NCAA Tournament appearance. In 1994-95, Pooley became the first head coach to bring a team to the HOCKEY EAST Championship Game in his inaugural season behind the bench. In 1995-96, he guided the Friars to their second HOCKEY EAST title and first since 1985. Pooley also led the team to its eighth appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The 38-year-old head coach came to PC after spending three years as an assistant coach at Lake Superior State (1991-94). He began coaching at his alma mater, Ohio State, where he served as an assistant to Jerry Welsh from 1988-91.

OMICIOLI MOVES TO 17TH ALL-TIME AT PC... Senior Mike Omicioli registered three points (one goal, two assists) in PC's 8-2 win against BU on Friday at Schneider Arena and moved into the 17th spot all-time in scoring at PC with 137 points (48 goals, 89 assists). He also ranks 13th all-time in assists at PC with 89. Omicioli is second on the team in goals (18) and is third in points (49) this season. His three points against BU on Friday was the 35th multiple-point game of his career and his 16th multiple-point game this season. His three-point effort against BU also was the 16th time in his career that he recorded three or more points in a game. His two-goal effort against BU on Feb. 13 marked the seventh multiple-goal game of his career. In his career he has registered two or more assists in a game 20 times and three or more assists in a game eight times.

PISANI RECORDS 50TH POINT... Junior left wing Fernando Pisani notched one assist in PC's 8-2 loss to BU on Saturday for his 50th point (14 goals, 36 assists) of the season. Pisani is tied for the team lead in assists with 36. Pisani added two assists in PC's 6-5 overtime loss to Northeastern on March 7. Pisani's two-point effort against NU was his 29th career multiple-point game and his 15th multiple-point game this season. He has recorded three or more points in a game 12 times in his career and has registered four or more points in a game four times in his career. With two assists against UMass-Lowell on Feb. 5, Pisani surpassed the 100-point plateau in his career. Pisani became the first player to reach 100 or more points in his junior season since All-American Chad Quenneville accomplished the feat in 1995. A 1996 eighth-round draft pick of the Edmonton Oilers, Pisani ranks 32nd all-time in scoring at PC with 114 points (42 goals, 72 assists) in 108 career games.

KEEFE LEADS TEAM IN SCORING... Junior center Jerry Keefe, who returned to the lineup on Friday after missing three games with an ankle injury, notched one assist in PC's 5-1 win against BU on Sunday. He registered one assist in the Friars' 8-2 win on Friday for his 50th point of the season. He became the first Friar to record 50 points in a season since Chad Quenneville notched 54 in 1995 and the first Friar to record 50 points in his junior season since Rob Gaudreau had 61 points in 1991. Keefe has tallied three or more points in seven games this season, including two five-point games. He leads the team in points (52) and is tied for the team lead in assists (36). In 86 career games, Keefe has registered 89 points (30 goals, 59 assists). His four assists against Merrimack on Feb. 19 marked the 21st multiple-point game of his career and his 15th this season.

50-POINT FRIARS... Junior Jerry Keefe (16-36-52), junior Fernando Pisani (14-36-50) and senior Mike Omicioli (18-31-49) have all registered 40 or more points this season for the Friars. It marks the first time since the 1991-92 season that PC has had three players record 40 or more points in a season. If Mike Omicioli records one or more points tonight, it will mark the first time PC has had three players register 50 or more points in a season since 1983 when Kurt Kleinendorst (72 points), Gates Orlando (69 points) and Paul Guay (65 points) all achieved the feat.

LAKE HOT FOR FRIARS IN TOURNAMENT... Senior center Troy Lake scored two goals and added three assists in PC's three HOCKEY EAST Quarterfinal games against BU on March 14-16. Lake scored one goal and added one assist in PC's 8-2 win against BU on Friday and scored one goal and notched two assists in PC's 5-1 win on Sunday. His two-point effort against BU on Sunday was his 10th multiple-point game this season. Lake leads team lead in goals (19) and power-play goals (nine). He netted two power-play goals in PC's 5-5 tie against Boston College on Feb. 23. For Lake it was his third multiple-goal game this season. He is fifth on the team in scoring with a career high 33 points (19 goals, 14 assists). He has recorded 71 points (37 goals, 34 assists) in 127 career games.

FARRELL STEPS UP ON OFFENSE... Sophomore defenseman Mike Farrell has recorded seven points in the last seven games. On Feb. 23, Farrell registered a season high three points (one goal, two assists) in PC's 5-5 tie against Boston College. On Feb. 26, the sophomore defenseman notched the game-winning goal in the Friars' 3-2 victory against UMass-Amherst. A 1998 eighth-round draft pick of the Washington Capitals, Farrell has registered three goals and 12 assists in 28 games this season.

IALONGO BOMBS ON THE POWER PLAY... Junior defenseman Jason Ialongo, who notched one assist in PC's 5-1 win against BU on Sunday, is second on the team in power-play tallies with eight. Twice this season Ialongo has tallied two power-play goals in a game. Eight of Ialongo's 11 goals this season have been scored in man-advantage situations. In 36 games this season, the Cranston, R.I. native has registered a career high 28 points (11 goals, 17 assists).

MacNEVIN PRODUCES ON OFFENSE... Junior defenseman Josh MacNevin, who scored one goal and notched one assist in PC's 5-1 win against BU on Sunday, is fourth on the team in scoring with 35 points (six goals, 29 assists). MacNevin's two-point effort against BU on Sunday was the 15th multiple-point game of his career and his ninth this season. In PC's 3-2 win against Brown on Jan. 12 in the Mayor's Cup, MacNevin assisted on all three Friar goals. His three assist-effort against Brown marked the third time in his career he recorded three assists in a game. A 1996 fourth-round draft pick of the New Jersey Devils, MacNevin has 68 points (16 goals, 52 assists) in 98 career games.

BALLARD BETWEEN THE POSTS... Sophomore goaltender Boyd Ballard played all three games in the Friars' Quarterfinal series against BU. He made 14 stops in PC's 5-1 win on Sunday. Ballard played 34:23 on Saturday in PC's 8-2 loss to BU. Ballard made 13 saves and allowed five goals in the loss. On Friday, he made 29 stops in PC's 8-2 win against BU at Schneider Arena. Ballard recorded a season-high 36 saves while earning his first shutout of the season and becoming the first goalie to hold the Eagles scoreless in 1998-99 in PC's 3-0 shutout at sixth-ranked Boston College on Jan. 22. Ballard made a number of key saves in the game, including one on Mike Mottau's short-handed shot in the second period which was featured as CNN's "Play of the Day." The shutout at BC was the second of Ballard's collegiate career. For his efforts in the shutout against BC, Ballard earned HOCKEY EAST Defensive Player of the Week honors. Last season, Ballard earned HOCKEY EAST All-Rookie Team honors. In 27 games this season, Ballard has posted a 14-11-1 mark, a 3.54 goals against average and an .881 save percentage.

OFFENSIVE FRIARS... The PC offense has been very productive this season. The Friars enter Friday's game against UNH averaging 4.22 goals per game. PC has scored five or more goals in 19 of its 37 games.

FRIARS ESTABLISH TWO HOCKEY EAST TOURN. RECORDS... In PC's 8-2 win against BU on Friday at Schneider Arena, PC established two HOCKEY EAST Tournament records with its seven goal outburst in the third period. In the third period PC scored goals at 1:23 by Troy Lake, 1:57 by Matt Libby, 3:13 by Mike Omicioli and 4:29 by Fernando Pisani to break the HOCKEY EAST Tournament record for the fastest four goals in a period. PC's four tallies in 3:06 broke the previous mark of four in 4:34 set by UNH versus the Friars in 1990. PC also tied the HOCKEY EAST Tournament record of seven goals in a period established by Maine in 1990 against UMass-Lowell.
