    Harold Starks was promoted to associate athletic director for diversity, equity & inclusion on July 18, 2023.Â

Starks works with the student-athlete development team to provide comprehensive DEI education for student-athletes, athletic department staff and coaches. He also provides leadership in the department and across the BIG EAST and NCAA in developing strategies that advance the overall goals of diversity, equity and inclusion.Â

Prior to his promotion to associate athletic director for DEI, Starks served as the coordinator for mentoring and athletic alumni relations for the men's and women's basketball programs at Providence College (2011-23) and he worked in the office of institutional advancement (2008-11). A 1986 graduate of Providence, Starks was a four-year member of the men's basketball program and served as team captain during his final season.Â
Before joining the Friars, Starks worked for Expressions Retail Urban Wear as the vice president of operations (2004-07). Starks has served multiple roles in athletics throughout his career including director of athletics at the Brooks School (2001-03), associate athletic director at Hofstra University (1991-01), and assistant mens basketball coach at Hofstra University (1989-91). He started his career at Fleet National Bank as a branch manager (1986-88).
