Tiara Johnson embarks on her seventh season as an assistant coach on Head Coach Jim Crowley’s staff at Providence College in 2022-23.

Prior to her arrival at Providence, Johnson spent six years with Crowley at St. Bonaventure. She served as the program’s director of basketball operations for three seasons (2010-13), before being promoted to assistant coach (2013-16). During her tenure with the Brown and White, she was a part of four post-season appearances, including the team’s historic run to the NCAA Sweet 16 in 2012.

In six seasons, Johnson helped the Bonnies to a 125-69 overall record, including four 20+ win seasons, four post-season appearances and one Atlantic 10 regular-season title. St. Bonaventure advanced to the WNIT Second Round in 2011 and 2014. The Bonnies run to the Sweet 16 in 2012 marked the program’s first-ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament. In 2016, St. Bonaventure posted a 24-8 overall record, earning an at-large selection to the NCAA Tournament. The Bonnies advanced to the second round as the No. 10 seed, defeating seventh-seeded Oklahoma State, 65-54, in the First Round. The Bonnies fell to eventual Final Four participant Oregon State in the Second Round.

The Kansas City, Mo. native joined the St. Bonaventure women’s basketball team as a player after she transferred in from North Central Missouri College. As a junior, Johnson started 28 contests and averaged 5.0 points, 6.2 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game. Johnson ended up suffering a knee injury that hindered her senior year. Johnson returned in 2009-10 as a red-shirt senior, appearing in 19 games and starting three. Johnson averaged 8.4 minutes per game and shot 36.8 percent from the floor.
