Margaret Howe enters her fifth season with the program having joined the Friars as the program's full time Assistant Coach in 2016. Howe assists with all aspects of the Friar program while acting as the programs Recruiting Coordinator.
Howe’s tenure at Providence has yielded the programs with some of the most talented, accomplished and diverse classes ever. The 2019-20 season saw the Friars break 22 school records at the 2020 Big East Championships while seeing lifetime bests recorded by swimmers representing all four classes.
Prior to joining the Friars, Howe served as head coach of men's and women's swimming at St. Joseph's College in Maine. During her tenure at St Joseph's, Howe led the Monks to a runner-up finish at the GNAC Conference Championships. The team broke six school records, earned the program's first GNAC Institutional Sportsmanship Award and had the program's first ECAC qualifier. Howe was responsible for all phases of the program, including the day to day administration, workout planning, execution and fundraising.
Howe's additional coaching background includes stints as assistant coach with the Boston College Masters program as well as work with Crimson Aquatics in Massachusetts and the Little Rhody Aquatic Club in Rhode Island.
Howe is a 2010 graduate of Boston College where she represented the Eagles during her four seasons on the varsity team. She is a two-time All-ACC Honor Roll Athlete and a four-time Eagle Academic Award winner.
