Helen Smith enters her first season as the Providence College Swimming and Diving Team Graduate Assistant Coach. Smith, a four year competitor for the Friars from 2013-2017, is currently the second leading scorer in Friar women's swimming and diving history with a career total of 918.25 points.
As a freshman, Smith received the O'Neill Family Award, which honors the most valuable female and male freshman athletes in dual and championship competition as voted by the team members and coaching staff. As a sophomore, she received the David Hardy Coach's Award which honors the male and female student-athletes who exhibit those qualities which Hardy brought to the swimming and diving team: loyalty, dedication, good sportsmanship, and outstanding effort in the pool and in the classroom. As a senior, she received the Cindi Luciani Award which honors the women's Most Valuable Student-Athlete in dual and championship meet competition. In addition, she received Big East All-Academic Team awards in each of her four years and holds multiple school records.
Smith graduated from Providence College as a member of the class of 2017 with a Bachelors of Arts in Mathematics. While serving the Friars, Smith is currently pursuing her Masters of Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing.
