The Friars begin the weekend with a BIG EAST match against the Hoyas on Friday, Sept. 25 at 1:00 p.m.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College field hockey team will travel to Washington, D.C. to play a pair of games this weekend, beginning on Friday, Sept. 25 at Georgetown. The BIG EAST match between the Friars and Hoyas is slated for 1:00 p.m. Providence concludes the road trip on Sunday, Sept. 27 with a non-conference match at American, scheduled for 1:00 p.m.Â

SCOUTING PROVIDENCE COLLEGE (6-2, 1-0 BIG EAST):
• Providence College enters the weekend with a 6-2 record, including a 1-0 mark in BIG EAST play.
• The Friars' two matches at Georgetown and American will conclude a stretch of seven-consecutive road games.
• Senior Lily Procaccianti leads the offense with 15 points on seven goals and one assist.
• Senior Carly van Benten, junior Martu Torre Festa and senior Bo Martina are tied for second on the team in scoring with eight points each. Van Benten is second on the team in goals, with four. Torre Festa has recorded two goals and a team-best four assists and Martina has compiled three goals and two assists.
• Martina scored what proved to be the game-winning goal in the Friars' BIG EAST opening win against then-No. 15 Old Dominion.
• Fourteen different players have scored at least one goal through eight games, including seven players who have scored multiple goals.
• Last weekend, Providence compiled a 1-1 record. The Friars defeated then-No. 15 Old Dominion, 2-0, in the 2026 BIG EAST opener before closing the weekend with a 4-3 overtime loss at Brown.Â
• The Friars were on a six-game win streak before falling to Brown, 4-3, in overtime in their most recent match on Sept. 20. It marked the longest win streak in a single season since 2006. That year, Providence rattled off six-consecutive wins on two occasions during the season.
• Additionally, Providence also had won three-straight road games prior to its loss at Brown. It marked the longest stretch of consecutive road wins in a single season since 2018.
• Providence has earned three shut-out victories in games vs. New Haven (11-0) on Sept. 4 and Bryant (3-0) on Sept. 6 and No. 15 Old Dominion (2-0) on Sept. 18.Â
• The Friars' 11 goals vs. New Haven on Sept. 4 set a single-game program record. The previous record (nine) was set on two occasions in games against Conn College (1980) and Fairfield (1985).
• The Friars returned 97-percent of their offensive production from last season, accounting for 35 of the team's 36 goals and 30 of the team's 31 assists in 2025.
• Martina and Procaccianti each eclipsed the 20-point mark last season. Martina finished with 22 points on nine goals and four assists, while Procaccianti paced Providence with 10 goals and added one assist for 21 points.
• Procaccianti became the first player to record 10-or-more goals in a season since 2014. That year, Daniella Bernasconi (15), Megan Hamilton (15) and Steph Guglielmo (13) all recorded double-digit goals.
• Van Benten finished third on the team in scoring with 18 points on five goals and a team-best eight assists.
• Martina was named Preseason BIG EAST Midfielder of the Year on Aug. 19. She also was a unanimous selection on the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team.

• As a freshman, Porter started 16 games for the Friars and posted an 8-8 record with two shut-out victories. She registered a 1.64 goals against average and a 0.748 save percentage.
• Gineste started 17 games last season for the Eagles and posted a 10-5 overall record, including a 6-0 mark in the Patriot League. She registered four shut-out victories, a 1.14 goals against average and a 0.767 save percentage.
• This season, Porter has played seven games and has recorded a 5-2 record with a 1.36 goals against average and a 0.667 save percentage. Gineste has played two games and owns a 1-0 record to go along with a 0.67 goals against average and a 0.750 save percentage.
• Providence has outscored its opponents 29-11 through the first eight games of the season.

• Georgetown enters the weekend with a 4-4 overall record, including a 0-1 mark in BIG EAST play.
• The Hoyas opened BIG EAST regular season play last weekend with a 2-1 loss to Temple on Sept. 18 in Philadelphia, Pa. Katherine Malloy scored Georgetown's lone goal just 5:55 into the game.
• Kate McManaman leads the offense with nine points on three goals and three assists.
• Izzy Lee (2g / 2a) and Malloy (3g) are tied for second in scoring with six points each.
• Riley Fitzgerald, Colleen Maloney and Caroline Suko round out the list of multi-goal scorers, with two each.
• Alex Duff has played the majority of minutes in goal for Georgetown (374), but Ella Fahey has played two of the Hoyas' last three games in net (William & Mary and Rider).
• Duff owns a 2-4 record (0-1 BIG EAST) to go along with a 1.92 goals against average and a 0.692 save percentage. Fahey is 2-0 on the year and has compiled a 1.50 goals against average and a 0.400 save percentage.
