Providence College Hosts 65th Annual All-Sports Gala

More than 300 student-athletes, staff and administrators gathered to celebrate the 2025-26 academic year.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College Athletics Department hosted the 65th Annual All-Sports Gala on Monday, April 27. The department also recognized this year's inductees to the Providence College "Letter-Winner's Society" and held a reception to honor the athletic department's graduating student-athletes.

Sophomore John Mustard (Oradell, N.J.), who was a semifinalist for the Walter Brown Award, claimed Male Athlete of the Year for Team Sports. He tallied 17 goals and 12 assists and helped the Friars earn an at-large bid to the 2026 NCAA Tournament.

Sophomore Elliott Pugh (Tauranga, New Zealand), a three-time All-BIG EAST performer in cross country and track, was named Male Athlete of the Year for Individual Sports. During the indoor track season, Pugh became the 11th runner in program history to run a sub-four-minute mile, clocking 3:59.60 at the Boston University Valentine Invitational.

On the women's side, junior softball player Cameron Dunn (Bothell, Wash.) and graduate student guard Sabou Gueye (Dakar, Senegal) of the women's basketball program was recognized as co-recipients of Female Athlete of the Year for Team Sports. Dunn is ranked in the top five in the BIG EAST in five major offensive categories and recently set the program's home run record (15). She has played a key role in positioning the Friars in first place in the BIG EAST standings. Gueye became just the second Friar women's basketball player in the last 32 seasons to earn All-BIG EAST First Team accolades, and the first since 2010, after averaging 15.6 points, 6.1 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.8 steals per game.

Junior Maeve O'Neill (Cork, Ireland), a member of the women's cross country and track programs, claimed Female Athlete of the Year for Individual Sports. O'Neill is a three-time All-American and BIG EAST Champion. She recently set three program records during the indoor track season in the 600, 800 and 1,000 meters.

Senior Cara Laverty (Derry, Ireland) of the women's cross country and track teams was the winner of the Paul Connolly Award. The award honors a female graduating student-athlete who has distinguished herself among her peers through sportsmanship, courage and honor.Â

Senior Philip Svedebäck (Växjö, Sweden) of the men's ice hockey team was the recipient of the Mal Brown Award. The Mal Brown Award is given annually to the male graduating student-athlete whose career of intercollegiate competition portrayed sportsmanship, courage and honor.

The Sine Qua Non Awards, which are given annually to male and female graduating student-athletes who have distinguished themselves among their peers without receiving significant recognition, were presented to graduate student Charlie Dickerson (Norwich, England) of the men's soccer team, senior Gabriella Lee (Belmont, Calif.) of the softball team and senior Jillian Fenerty (Franklin, Mass.) of the women's track team.Â

Senior women's soccer player Ahnna Faust (Grafton, Wis.) earned two major awards during the event. She was the recipient of the Jane Thompson Award, which is presented to the male or female graduating student-athlete who set themselves apart through exceptional public and community service, demonstrates selflessness, compassion and a commitment to helping others without seeking recognition. Faust also took home the Reverend Robert A. Morris, O.P. '46 Memorial Award, which is given annually to a student-athlete who had a profound impact on Providence College during their career, as selected by the Athletic Director and the senior administrative staff.Â

Red-shirt senior guard Corey Floyd Jr. (Franklin, N.J.) of the men's basketball team was the recipient of the Jackie Robinson Award. The award was established in 2025 by Athletic Director Steve Napolillo and honors a student-athlete who inspires teammates, coaches and members of the Friar community to strive for excellence, show respect and bring out the best in others. Like Jackie Robinson himself, this individual leads by example, demonstrating integrity, perseverance and a commitment to uplifting those around them.

Senior Quinn Danus (Morris Plains, N.J.) from men's swimming & diving, senior Britton Miller (Tallahassee, Fla.) of women's track and Faust were recognized as the Scholar-Athlete Award winners.

Mustard led the Friars in scoring this season with 29 points on a team-high 17 goals and 12 assists. The 17 goals and 29 points were the most by a Friar since 2021-22. The sophomore led the team with 137 shots on goal and opened the season with a nine-game point streak, scoring goals in five of the first six games. Mustard boasted 10-goal and nine-point improvements from his 2024-25 campaign. He had five games of at least two points and was named a semifinalist for the Walter Brown Award, given to the top American-born Division I college hockey player in New England. In 73 career games at Providence, he has recorded 24 goals and 25 assists for 49 points with a +8 rating.

Pugh, in his second year with the Providence cross country and track programs, has put together an impressive sophomore campaign. He earned All-BIG EAST honors at the 2025 BIG EAST Cross Country Championships in the fall. During the indoor season, Pugh became the 11th runner in program history to break four minutes in the mile, clocking 3:59.60 at the Boston University Valentine Invitational. At the 2026 BIG EAST Indoor Championships, he finished second in the 3,000 meters (8:00.44) to earn All-BIG EAST and was also a member of the Distance Medley Relay team that placed second to earn All-BIG EAST honors.

Dunn, currently ranks in the top five in the BIG EAST in five major offensive categories. She second in RBI (55), home runs (15), slugging percentage (.883) and on-base percentage (.530) and third in batting average (.425). Her 15 home runs set a program record, and she also has eclipsed 100 career hits. Dunn has played a critical role in helping the Friars claim first place in the BIG EAST Conference standings with a 15-3 record in league play. The Friars' 15 victories in league play are the most in program history, with two series (six games) remaining on the regular-season schedule.Â

Gueye was a unanimous selection to the All-BIG EAST First Team. She became just the second Friar to earn First Team accolades in the last 32 years and first since 2010. Additionally, Gueye was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll eight times. In her lone season with the women's basketball program, she played 33 games and averaged 15.6 points, 6.1 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.8 steals per game. She shot an impressive 49-percent from the field (219-447) and 76-percent from the foul line (71-94). In two BIG EAST Tournament games, Gueye averaged 25.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 2.0 steals and 1.0 block per game as the squad advanced to the quarterfinal round. In the Friars' First Round match-up against DePaul, Gueye scored a career-high 31 points on 15-26 shooting and added seven rebounds, three assists and two steals. She is one of three players in program history to eclipse 30 points in a BIG EAST Tournament game.

O'Neill is a three-time All-American and three-time BIG EAST Champion entering the outdoor season. The junior put together an impressive indoor campaign, setting program records in the 600, 800 and 1,000 meters. At the Saucony Battle for Boston, she broke her own 800-meter program record in 2:00.33, the ninth-fastest time in NCAA history, while also setting the Irish senior indoor record and meeting the qualifying standard for the World Championships. At the 2026 BIG EAST Indoor Championships, O'Neill won the 800-meter title in a BIG EAST indoor record time of 2:01.15 and was a member of the 4 x 800-meter relay team that also claimed the title, earning BIG EAST Most Outstanding Female Track Performer honors. She went on to earn Second Team All-America in the 800 meters at the 2026 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships. To close out the indoor season, O'Neill competed at the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Poland, advancing to the semifinals in her first career appearance at the meet. Most recently, she won the 800-meter invite at the Friar Invitational in 2:02.22, breaking her own program record and setting a facility record.

Laverty, a four-year member of the Providence cross country and track programs, has earned 10 All-BIG EAST accolades. She has collected three in cross country, four in indoor track and three in outdoor track. The senior has also won four BIG EAST titles as a member of the 4 x 800-meter relay team, with two coming during the indoor season and two in outdoor track. In 2025, Laverty was a member of the cross country team that finished third at the NCAA Cross Country Championships. She also was part of the 4 x 1,500-meter relay team that won the Championship of America race at the 2025 Penn Relays in a time of 16:59.65, the third-fastest collegiate time ever recorded and a program record. This season, Laverty placed 14th at the BIG EAST Cross Country Championships to earn All-BIG EAST honors. During the indoor season, she finished third in the mile to earn All-BIG EAST honors and was also a member of the 4 x 800-meter relay team that claimed the BIG EAST title.

Svedebäck appeared in 18 games for the Friars in 2025-26, recording his best save percentage as a Friar (.918) before suffering an injury in January. He was named Hockey East Goaltender of the Month in November after posting a 1.86 goals-against average and .934 save percentage over eight games played. Svedebäck was also named to the Mike Richter Award Watch List, awarded to the nation's top goaltender, for the fourth time in his career. The senior ranks fourth all-time in program history in games played by a goaltender (113), wins (54) and ranks sixth all-time with a career 2.30 goals-against average.

Dickerson was a mainstay in the backline for the men's soccer program, starting all 15 matches and logging over 1,300 minutes. He earned an All-BIG EAST Second Team selection and was a member of the 2025 United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I Men's All-East Region Team. He was a crucial part of a defense that secured four shutouts this season, including one against UConn, which earned Dickerson a BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll recognition. Dickerson led by example and was a major reason why the program secured its 24th appearance in the BIG EAST Tournament. Â

Lee, a senior captain for the Friars, has appeared in every game this season, batting .264 with one home run and eight RBI, while helping lead Providence a program-best 15 wins in BIG EAST play with two series remaining on the regular-season schedule. During her career, she has recorded 139 hits, 100 runs scored and 35 RBI, while posting a .294 batting average and a .365 on-base percentage. A consistent presence in the lineup throughout her four years, Lee earned All-BIG EAST Second Team honors as a sophomore and has been a reliable offensive contributor. She has embodied a strong work ethic and team-first mentality and has earned the respect of her teammates and coaches through her consistency and presence on and off the field. Lee was featured on SportsCenter's Top 10 Plays at No. 6 following her acrobatic catch at the centerfield wall vs. Brown on April 15.

Faust's career was defined by leadership and impact. She appeared in seven games in her four seasons at Providence, contributing to the program's depth and competitive culture throughout her time as a Friar. This past fall, Faust was selected to the 2025-26 Allstate NACDA Good Works Team (Fall). The prestigious award recognizes student-athletes who excel in academics, athletics and community impact.

Fenerty, a four-year member of the Providence track program, is a two-time All-American. The senior was a member of the Distance Medley Relay team at the 2024 and 2025 NCAA Indoor Track Championships, where the team placed sixth and third, respectively. She is also a two-time BIG EAST Champion as a member of the Distance Medley Relay squad during the indoor season. Fenerty ranks second all-time in the indoor 300 meters in program history.

Floyd transferred to Providence in 2022. He remained a Friar for the next four years. During that time, he scored 685 points (6.0 ppg) and grabbed 371 rebounds (3.3 rpg). As a four-year player for the Friars, he is an outlier in the current age of the transfer portal. He has carried himself with class and dignity for all four of his years. Named a captain during his senior year, he played through injury throughout his final season - repeatedly coming back to serve his team and inspire others.  Like his dad before him, who also played basketball at PC, Floyd will graduate as a Friar.

The "Letter-Winner's Society" was established during the 2003-04 academic year. Student-athletes are inducted annually, using a specific criterion that has been developed for each sport by the head coaches and athletic department administrators.Â

She has embodied a strong work ethic and team-first mentality and has earned the respect of her teammates and coaches through her consistency and presence on and off the field. Lee was featured on SportsCenter's Top 10 Plays at No. 6 following her acrobatic catch at the centerfield wall vs. Brown on April 15.

Faust's career was defined by leadership and impact. She appeared in seven games in her four seasons at Providence, contributing to the program's depth and competitive culture throughout her time as a Friar. This past fall, Faust was selected to the 2025-26 Allstate NACDA Good Works Team (Fall). The prestigious award recognizes student-athletes who excel in academics, athletics and community impact.

Fenerty, a four-year member of the Providence track program, is a two-time All-American. The senior was a member of the Distance Medley Relay team at the 2024 and 2025 NCAA Indoor Track Championships, where the team placed sixth and third, respectively. She is also a two-time BIG EAST Champion as a member of the Distance Medley Relay squad during the indoor season. Fenerty ranks second all-time in the indoor 300 meters in program history.

Floyd transferred to Providence in 2022. He remained a Friar for the next four years. During that time, he scored 685 points (6.0 ppg) and grabbed 371 rebounds (3.3 rpg). As a four-year player for the Friars, he is an outlier in the current age of the transfer portal. He has carried himself with class and dignity for all four of his years. Named a captain during his senior year, he played through injury throughout his final season - repeatedly coming back to serve his team and inspire others.  Like his dad before him, who also played basketball at PC, Floyd will graduate as a Friar.
