Sabou Gueye (Dakar, Senegal) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday, March 2. It marked Gueye's eighth appearance on the honor roll this season.
Last week, Gueye averaged 16.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 2.0 blocked shots and 2.0 steals in two games. She shot 45.2-percent from the field (14-31) and 71.4-percent from the free throw line (5-7).
On March 1, Gueye recorded 20 points, nine rebounds, five assists and three blocked shots against Marquette. She is just the third BIG EAST player in the last 15 years to record at lease 20 points, nine rebounds, five assists and three blocked shots in a BIG EAST game. She joined Aneesah Morrow (31 points, 22 rebounds, five assists and three blocks vs. Providence on Feb. 18, 2023) and Maddy Siegrist (31 points, nine rebounds, five assists and four blocks vs. DePaul on Jan. 4, 2021).
Gueye heads into BIG EAST Tournament play averaging 15.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.8 steals per game, while shooting 49-percent from the field (195-399).
The Friars enter the tournament as the No. 7 seed and will face No. 10 seed DePaul in the first round on Friday, March 6 at 1:30 p.m. The BIG EAST Tournament will be played at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn. and all games will be broadcast on Peacock.
