Friars will host the Musketeers on Sunday, Feb. 8 at Alumni Hall for a 1:00 p.m. tipoff on ESPN+.

FRIARS SET TO HOST XAVIER AT ALUMNI HALL... Providence College will host Xavier in BIG EAST action on Sunday, Feb. 8 at Alumni Hall in Providence, R.I. Tipoff is slated for 1:00 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on ESPN+.

PROVIDENCE VS. XAVIER ALL-TIME... The Friars lead the all-time series against the Musketeers, 13-12. Providence has dominated the series of late, winning 12 of the last 16 games. Xavier won the first meeting of the 2025-26 season series, 61-47, on Dec. 4 in Cincinnati, Ohio. With the victory, the Musketeers snapped a six-game winless streak against Providence.

FRIARS AND MUSKETEERS AT ALUMNI HALL... Providence and Xavier have met 11 times at Alumni Hall in Providence, R.I. The Friars lead the series vs. Xavier on their home court, 7-4. Providence has won six of the last seven games against Xavier at Alumni Hall. The last time Xavier defeated Providence at Alumni Hall dates back to Feb. 13, 2022 (62-60).

SINGLE DIGITS... Twelve of the 25 meetings between Providence and Xavier have been decided by single digits, including six of the last nine games. 

FIRST MEETING OF THE 2025-26 SEASON SERIES... The Friars scored a season-low 47 points in the first meeting of the 2025-26 series between Providence and Xavier on Dec. 4. The Musketeers claimed a 61-47 victory on that day to open the BIG EAST Conference schedule at the Cintas Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. Sabou Gueye (16) and Teneisia Brown (12) combined to score 28 of the Friars' 47 points on 12-24 shooting (.500). The rest of the team combined to shoot 21-percent (8-39). Gueye also finished the day with 12 rebounds to record one of her two double-doubles on the season. Xavier had three players in double figures, led by Mariyah Noel's 20 points. Savannah White scored 16 points and Mackenzie Givens added 10 points for the Musketeers. 

TENEISIA BROWN NETS FIRST 20+ POINT GAME AS A FRIAR... Teneisia Brown eclipsed the 20-point plateau for the first time as a Friar on Feb. 4 at Marquette. She scored 24 points on 11-21 shooting from the field. Brown is the first Friar to score 20+ points off the bench since Nariah Scott tallied 20 points vs. Georgetown on Feb. 21, 2023. Prior to arriving at Providence, Brown recorded 20+ points in 10 games.

SABOU GUEYE NOTCHES SIXTH 20-POINT GAME... Sabou Gueye scored a game-high 22 points against Villanova on Jan. 27 in Villanova, Pa. It marked her sixth 20-point game of the season, which ranks first on the team and tied for fifth in the BIG EAST. Gueye recorded just two 20-point games during her previous three seasons of NCAA Division I college basketball. Four of Gueye's 20-point performances this season have come during BIG EAST regular-season play. Three other players on the Friars' roster have hit 20 points this year. Payton Dunbar scored 22 points against Boston College (Nov. 15), Orlagh Gormley recorded 21 points against Creighton (Jan. 17) and Teneisia Brown tallied 24 points against Marquette (Feb. 4).

20/20... Sabou Gueye (22 points) and Orlagh Gormley (21 points) each eclipsed the 20-point mark in the Friars' game against Creighton on Jan. 17. The last time two Friars scored 20-points in a BIG EAST game dates back to Jan. 24, 2024 against Seton Hall. Grace Efosa scored 29 points and Marta Morales Romero added 26 in a 82-76 victory in overtime. Additionally, the last time two Friars scored 20-points in a BIG EAST game of regulation length was on Jan. 27, 2017 in a 66-64 win over Marquette. Jovana Nogic scored 27 points and Sarah Beal chipped in 25.

FLOOR GENERAL... Sophomore Orlagh Gormley has returned to the court as the Friars' floor general after sitting out the final 22 games of her freshman campaign with an injury. She's impacting both ends of the floor, leading the team in assists (4.1 apg) and steals (2.0 spg), while contributing 7.9 points and 4.2 rebounds per game. Gormley has recorded 3+ assists in 20 of the 23 games she has played, including 10 games with five-or-more assists. She has dished 5+ assists in six of the 12 league games she has played in and ranks fifth among BIG EAST players in assists per game during conference play (4.3 apg).

100 ASSISTS IN A SINGLE SEASON... Orlagh Gormley has dished 95 assists this season (4.1 apg) . She needs just five assists to reach 100 (with seven regular season games remaining). In the last 25 years, just five Friars have recorded 100 assists in a single season and combined to do it seven times. In the last 10 years, only Janai Crooms has achieved the feat, having dished 102 dimes in 2021-22 and 111 assists in 2022-23.

HOME-SWEET-HOME... The Friars have recorded eight of their 10 victories this season at home in Alumni Hall, including two of their three BIG EAST wins. When playing away from home, the Friars have posted a 2-8 record [1-7 in true road games; 1-1 at a neutral site]. Providence earned its first true road win of the season against DePaul on Jan. 4. The Friars overcame a 19-point deficit and claimed a 69-59 victory. 

SABOU GUEYE PROVING TO BE ONE OF THE TOP PLAYERS IN BIG EAST... Grad transfer Sabou Gueye is a five-time BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll selection this season. She ranks fifth in the BIG EAST in points (349), sixth in points per game (14.5 ppg), 10th in rebounding (5.7 rpg), fourth in field-goal percentage (.495), 11th in steals per game (1.8 spg) and 12th in blocked shots (0.88 bpg). Gueye leads the Friars in double-digit scoring games (17) and 20-point games (six) and is tied for the team lead in double-doubles (two). Gueye is tied for fifth in the BIG EAST in 20-point games. Four of her six 20-point games have come during BIG EAST play, which ranks third in the conference.

TENEISIA BROWN IS TOUGH ON THE GLASS... Teneisia Brown leads the team and ranks ninth in the BIG EAST in rebounding (5.8 rpg). She has hauled in a season-best 14 rebounds in two games vs. Central Connecticut (Nov. 10) and Bryant (Nov. 30). Her career high in BIG EAST Conference play for rebounding is 10 (vs. St. John's, 12/7/25). In addition to her rebounding prowess, she ranks second on the team in scoring (9.9 ppg) and third in steals (1.3 spg).

TENEISIA BROWN RANKS 18TH AMONG ACTIVE NCAA DIVISION I PLAYERS CAREER REBOUND... Teneisia Brown eclipsed 900 career rebounds in the Friars' game against St. John's on Jan. 27. In 126 career games, Brown has hauled in 903 boards for an average of 7.2 rebounds per game. Brown ranks 18th among active NCAA Division I players in career rebounds.

DOUBLE-DOUBLE TROUBLE... Sabou Gueye and Teneisia Brown are tied for the team lead in double-doubles, with two each. Gueye tallied 16 points and 12 rebounds vs. Boston College (Nov. 15) and 16 points and 12 rebounds vs. Xavier (Dec. 4). Brown recorded 12 points and 14 rebounds against Central Connecticut (Nov. 10) and 11 points and 10 boards vs. St. John's (Dec. 7). 

DOUBLE DIGITS... Sabou Gueye leads the Friars in double-digit scoring games (17) and 20-point games (six). Nine other players on the roster have reached double figures, including Teneisia Brown (13), Payton Dunbar (eight), Orlagh Gormley (seven), Ashley Dinges (four), Sophi Hall (three), Princess Moody (one), Riley Hamburger (one), Sami Mancini (one) and Audrey Shields (one). 

FRIARS ARE 2-11 WHEN OUT-REBOUNDED BY OPPONENT... The Friars are 2-11 this season when they record fewer rebounds than their opponent, including a 2-10 mark in BIG EAST play. The Friars recorded their only two victories of the season when being out-rebounded on Jan. 4 at DePaul and Jan. 17 vs. Creighton.

FRIARS SUFFER FIRST LOSS OF THE SEASON WHEN SCORING 65-OR-MORE POINTS IN A GAME... Providence suffered its first loss of the season when scoring 65-or-more points on Jan. 27 at Villanova (83-68). Providence entered the game 6-0 on the season when scoring 65+ points.

TENEISIA BROWN ECLIPSES 1,400 CAREER POINTS... Graduate transfer Teneisia Brown eclipsed the 1,400-point milestone on Feb. 4 at Marquette, having finished the game with a season-high 24 points. Brown arrived at Providence for her final season after stops at Merrimack (2020-22) and Fairleigh Dickinson (2023-25). She averaged double figures in the scoring column during each of her last three seasons of college basketball and currently ranks second on the team in scoring for the Friars through 24 games (9.9 ppg). Brown has a career scoring total of 1,423 points heading into Sunday's game vs. Xavier. 

FRIARS DEFEAT DE PAUL FOR FIRST WIN VS. BLUE DEMONS IN CHICAGO ALL-TIME... Providence overcame a 19-point deficit to defeat DePaul, 69-59, at Wintrust Arena in Chicago, Ill. on Jan. 4. It marked the Friars' first victory over DePaul in Chicago, Ill. all-time. Providence entered the match-up 0-18 vs. DePaul in games played in Chicago (0-11 at McGrath Phillips Arena; 0-7 at Wintrust Arena).

FRIARS POST LARGEST COMEBACK VICTORY SINCE 2017... The Friars overcame a 19-point deficit to defeat DePaul, 69-59, on Jan. 4 in Chicago, Ill. It marks the largest comeback victory since Nov. 11, 2017, when Providence rallied from a 20-point deficit to defeat Northeastern, 98-95, in overtime.

LARGEST COMEBACK IN BIG EAST PLAY SINCE 2013... The Friars overcame a 19-point deficit to defeat DePaul, 69-59, on Jan. 4. It marks the largest comeback win in BIG EAST play since Jan. 23, 2013. On that day, the Friars rallied from a 21-point deficit to defeat Villanova, 65-60, in overtime.

MOST STEALS BY A FRIAR IN A SINGLE GAME SINCE 2008-09 SEASON... Sophomore Orlagh Gormley recorded a career-high nine steals in the Friars' game against DePaul (Jan. 4). Her nine steals are the most by a Friar since Sarah Beal collected 10 against Bryant on Dec. 12, 2009. 

PRINCESS MOODY NETS CAREER-HIGH AGAINST NO. 1 UCONN... In the Friars' game against No. 1 UConn on Dec. 31, freshman Princess Moody scored a career-high 11 points. She hit 3-6 attempts from the floor, including a 2-2 performance beyond the three-point arc. She also added three boards, one assist and one steal in 22 minutes of action. Moody's previous career high in scoring was five points, which she has hit on four separate occasions. 

SOPHI HALL PERFECT EN ROUTE TO A CAREER-BEST 18 POINTS... Junior Sophi Hall played 13 minutes off the bench in the Friars' match-up against Yale (Nov. 21) and recorded a career-high 18 points. Sixteen of her 18 points came in the second half. She was perfect from the field (5-5), including a 3-3 showing from beyond the arc. She also was 5-5 from the foul line.

PAYTON DUNBAR'S CAREER-HIGH 22 POINTS LIFT FRIARS OVER BOSTON COLLEGE... Sophomore Payton Dunbar recorded a career-high 22 points against Boston College on Nov. 15. Dunbar shot 8-14 from the field, including a 5-10 performance beyond the arc. Entering the game, Dunbar was 0-9 from three-point territory. 

PAYTON DUNBAR NAMED TO EMERALD COAST CLASSIC ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM... Sophomore transfer Payton Dunbar was named to the Emerald Coast Classic All-Tournament team on Nov. 25. She averaged 13.5 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.0 steal per game. She shot 42-percent from the field (10-24), including 35-percent from three-point territory. Dunbar paced the Friars with a game-high 19 points in a 64-33 victory over Alcorn State.

BIG EAST PRESEASON POLL... The Friars were picked to finish 10th in the BIG EAST Preseason Coaches' Poll, released at the league's annual media day on Oct. 21 at Madison Square Garden. Last season, Providence completed the year with a 13-19 overall record and claimed a seventh-place finish in the regular-season standings with a 6-12 conference record.
