Women’s Golf Headed To Sacred Heart Fall Classic

The two-day, 54-hole tournament will be held at Great River Golf Club in Milford, Conn.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College women's golf team returns to action on Monday, Sept. 29 and Tuesday, Sept. 30 at Great River Golf Club in Milford, Conn. for the Sacred Heart Fall Classic.

Play begins Monday morning with rounds one and two in a shotgun format. The third and final round will be played Tuesday. The field includes 11 other schools: Boston University, Bryant University, Fairfield University, Hofstra University, Iona University, Manhattan College, Merrimack College, New Haven University, Quinnipiac University, Sacred Heart University and Siena University.
Great River Golf Club, ranked among Golf Digest's best public courses in the United States, has been owned and operated by Sacred Heart since 2015. A par-72 layout designed by Tommy Fazio, the course stretches 7,000 yards and has been home to Sacred Heart golf since 2003.
Last Tuesday, the Friars completed the first ever women's golf tournament in Providence College history at the two-day Boston College Red Bandanna Invitational at Blue Hill Country Club in Canton, Mass. The Friars finished 14th in the 15-team field with a score of 1,016 (+152). Sophomore Gwendolyn Yarnall (East Aurora, N.Y.) led Providence, tying for 40th overall at 237 (+21).

The Friars will return to action on Oct. 13 in Wallingford, Conn. to play in the Quinnipiac Classic at The Farms Country Club.
