Volleyball Set To Host 20th Annual Friar Classic

The Friars first match is set for 5:00 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 12 against Central Connecticut State University.
PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The Providence College volleyball team is set to host the 20th Annual Friar Classic on Sept. 12-14 at Alumni Hall in Providence, R.I. The first day of the tournament will feature two matches, followed by three on Saturday and one on Sunday.

SCOUTING THE FRIARS… The Friars are entering the tournament 4-3 after defeating the University of New Haven (3-0) in a midweek game.
Redshirt senior Hadley Pride (Nashville, Tenn.) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll and leads the team in digs with 127. Pride recently eclipsed the 1,000-career dig milestone. She recorded 957 career digs in three seasons at Tennessee State. She owns 127 digs at Providence.
Sophomore Sophia Adkins (Cincinnati, Ohio) was also named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll and leads the team in kills with 89.
Junior Miller McDonald (Dallas, Texas) leads the team in assists, with 143, averaging 5.50 per set.

SCOUTING CENTRAL CONNECTICUT… The Blue Devils are entering the tournament 0-6 after playing in the Seton Hall Classic. They fell to NJIT (3-2) Iona (3-0) and Seton Hall (3-0).
Senior Weronika Poczynek and sophomore Olivia Keckler are tied for the team lead in kills with 63.
Junior Anja Milosevic leads the team in assists, with 181, averaging 9.53 per set.
Sophomore Annabelle Denommé leads the team in digs with 61.

SCOUTING MERRIMACK… The Warriors are entering the tournament 1-4 after competing in the Northern Illinois tournament. The fell to Northern Illinois (3-0), SIUE (3-2) and Indiana State University (3-0).
Sophomore Aubrey Baker leads the team in kills with 34.
Junior Sophia DeBonis leads the team in assists, with 63, averaging 3.71 per set.
Junior Ella Maldonado leads the team in digs with 57.

SCOUTING HOLY CROSS… The Crusaders are entering the tournament 2-5 after falling to Bryant in a midweek game.
Freshman Emma Sorenson leads the team in kills with 66.
Senior Katie Russell leads the team in assists, with 105, averaging 4.04 per set.
Sophomore Alana Whitwell leads the team in digs with 56.

WHAT'S NEXT: The Providence College volleyball team will return to action next weekend (Sept. 19-20) at the Pelican Invitational in New Orleans, La. The Friars will face off against Alabama State on Friday, Sept. 19 at 1:00 p.m. (ET) and Tulane University at 7:30 p.m. (ET). Providence will then play New Orleans on Saturday, Sept. 20 at 1:00 p.m. (ET).
