CHICAGO, Ill. – The Providence College men's and women's track teams competed on the second day of the BIG EAST Indoor Championships on Saturday, March 1 at the Dr. Conrad Worrill Track and Field Facility in Chicago, Ill. Graduate student
Shannon Flockhart (Cambridge, England) won the Mile in a time of 4:38.94. Graduate student
Alex Millard (Kent, England) captured the 3,000 meters in a BIG EAST Indoor Championship time of 8:50.32.
In addition, to Millard winning the 3,000, senior
Kimberley May (Auckland, New Zealand) placed third in the 3K a time of 8:54.95. The Friar women's 4 x 800 team of
Kiera Hall (Christchurch, New Zealand), junior
Cara Laverty (Derry, Ireland), sophomore
Polly Bogdan (Rochester, N.Y.) and sophomore
Maeve O'Neill (Cork, Ireland) finished second (8:48.65).
O'Neill ran a strong race in the 800-meter finals, finishing third in a time of 2:06.61.
The women's 4 x 400 team of freshman
Chloe Higgins (Morristown, N.J.), junior
Jill Fenerty (Franklin, Mass.), freshman
Keira Kelly (Scotch Plains, N.J.) and junior
Elena Cabral (Somerset, Mass.) placed sixth in the 4 x 400 in a school record time of 3:49.49.
On the men's side, graduate student
Pat Thygesen (Brisbane, Australia) finished third in the 3,000 meters (8:06.24). Freshman
Cormac Dixon (Dublin, Ireland) and junior
Zane Powell (Auckland, New Zealand) each performed well in the 3,000. Dixon was fourth (8:07.09) and Powell was sixth (8:09.34).
Senior
Brett Lehman (Lower Gwynedd, Pa.) ran a strong race in the 400-meters, placing second in a time of 48.11.
In the 800 meters, graduate student
Josh Lewin (West Chester, Pa.) placed sixth (1:51.78).
Sophomore
Tyler Bartlett (Fairfield, Conn.) and sophomore
Will Johnston (Auckland, New Zealand) each competed in the finals of the Mile. Bartlett was sixth (4:07.18) and Johnston was seventh (4:07.75).
In the field events, sophomore
Jon Mignacca (Seekonk, Mass.) was fourth (2.01 meters) in the high jump and junior
Nik Ventura (Jamison, Pa.) placed sixth (13.07 meters) in the triple jump.
The 4 x 800 team of sophomore
Tyler Bartlett (Fairfield, Conn.), freshman
Thomas Breen (Providence, R.I.), sophomore
Will Johnston (Auckland, New Zealand) and graduate student
Josh Lewin (West Chester, Pa.) placed second (7:31.99).
The men's 4 x 400 team of junior
Will Rainey (San Jose, Calif.), junior
Kyle Bloomer (Darien, Conn.), freshman
Thomas Hunt (Berkeley Heights, N.J.) and Lehman placed fifth overall in a school record time of 3:16.66.
All athletes who finished in the top three of their respective races earned All-BIG EAST honors.

Providence will return to action at the ECAC/IC4A Indoor Championship on March 8-9 in Boston, Mass.
