Two Friars Earn BIG EAST Weekly Honors for Women’s Soccer

Stephanie Schoeley and Lily Gibbs each named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Providence College women's soccer players Stephanie Schoeley (Thedford, Ont.) and Lily Gibbs (Dedham, Mass.) earned BIG EAST Weekly Honors on Monday, Oct. 6. Schoeley and Gibbs were each named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll following the Friars' 2-0 victory over Seton Hall and 1-0 loss versus Connecticut.
Schoeley was credited with the game-winning goal in the 15th minute versus Seton Hall, marking the sophomore's first goal of the season. The defender also helped limit Seton Hall to just three shots in a shut-out win and limited Connecticut to four shots on goal. Schoeley was previously honored by the league on Sept. 8 when she was named BIG EAST Defender of the Week.
Gibbs scored her second goal of the season in the 46th minute versus Seton Hall. Gibbs is tied for first on the team in goals, with two on the season. The redshirt-freshman was previously honored by the league on Aug. 18 when she was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week.
The Friars will host Creighton (4-6-2, 1-2-1 BIG EAST) in the team's Senior Day match on Saturday, Oct. 11, in Providence, R.I. The game will kick off at 12:00 p.m. on Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium. Providence holds a 6-5-0 all-time advantage over the Bluejays. In the last meeting between the two teams, Providence was defeated by Creighton, 1-0, on Oct. 13, 2024 in Omaha, Neb.
