HAMDEN, Conn. – The Providence College women's hockey team fell to No. 8/8 Quinnipiac University, 5-0, on Saturday, Oct. 4, at M&T Bank Arena in Hamden, Conn. The Friars dropped to 0-2-0 on the season, while Quinnipiac improved to 4-0-0. Graduate student Hope Walinski (Lincoln, R.I.) recorded a career-high 39 saves in the loss.

GAME FLOW & NOTES
  
-The two teams skated through a scoreless first period, with the Friars successfully killing an early penalty. Shots on goal were even at nine after 20 minutes.
 
-Quinnipiac scored three times in a span of 1:02 in the second period. Kahlen Lamarche opened the scoring at 13:43, assisted by Makayla Watson. Nineteen seconds later, Peyton Cormier doubled the lead with helpers from Emerson Jarvis and Regan Berglund, followed by Aynsley D'Ottavio scoring 41 seconds later to make it 3-0. Laurence Frenette and Lamarche picked up assists on the third goal.
 
-D'Ottavio added her second goal of the game at 4:21 of the third period to extend the lead to 4-0, assisted by Taylor Brueske and Cormier.
 
-Ruby Rauk capped the scoring at 5-0 with 5:13 remaining in regulation, with assists from Avery Bairos and Watson.
 
-Walinski's 39 saves marked a career high for the graduate student.
 
-It was the first time Providence has been shut out since a 0-0 tie against the University of Vermont on Nov. 16, 2024.
 
-The Friars now stand at 11-8-2 all-time against Quinnipiac.
