Lily Gibbs Named BIG EAST Freshman Of The Week For Women’s Soccer

Lily Gibbs was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week for the second time this season.
NEW YORK, N.Y. – Providence College women's soccer player Lily Gibbs (Dedham, Mass.) was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week on Monday, Oct. 27 following the Friar' victories over Marquette (5-0) and Villanova (2-1).
Gibbs scored a brace in the Friars' 2-1 win at Villanova on Saturday, Oct. 25. The redshirt freshman scored both of the Friars two goals, and was credited game-winning goal in the 83rd minute of play. Gibbs' multi-goal performance led the Friars to a win and kept the team in BIG EAST Playoff contention. On Wednesday, Oct. 22, Gibbs notched one assist on the Friars' 5-0 win over Marquette.
Gibbs leads the Friars this season in points (nine) and goals (four). Gibbs was previously recognized by the league when she earned BIG EAST Freshman of the Week honors on Aug. 18 earned BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll recognition on Oct. 6.
The Friars will visit DePaul (1-7-1, 4-12-1 BIG EAST) in their regular-season finale on Saturday, Nov. 1, in Chicago, Ill. The game will kick off at 1:00 p.m. (ET) and will be available for streaming on ESPN+. Providence holds an 8-7-6 all-time advantage against the Blue Demons. In the last meeting between the two teams, Providence tied DePaul, 1-1, on Oct. 31, 2024 in Providence, R.I.
