Volleyball Set To Host St. John’s And Seton Hall In BIG EAST Home Opener

The Friars will face St. John’s on Friday, Oct. 3 at 5:00 p.m. and Seton Hall on Saturday, Oct. 4 at 3:00 p.m.
PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The Providence College volleyball team is home this weekend at Alumni Hall in Providence, R.I. for its BIG EAST home opener. The Friars will take on St. John's on Friday, Oct. 3 at 5:00 p.m. and Seton Hall on Saturday, Oct. 4 at 3:00 p.m.

SCOUTING THE FRIARS… The Friars enter the weekend with a 9-6 record and are 0-2 in the BIG EAST. Most recently, the Friars were defeated by Marquette (3-0) and DePaul (3-0).
As a team, Providence averages 2.34 aces per set, which ranks third in NCAA Division I.
Sophomore Sophia Adkins (Cincinnati, Ohio) leads the Friars' offense with 202 kills. She ranks fourth in the BIG EAST with an average of 3.81 kills per set.
Junior Lyric Berry (Wylie, Texas) leads Providence with 75 blocks and averages 1.42 blocks per set, which ranks first in the BIG EAST.
Redshirt senior Hadley Pride (Nashville, Tenn.) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll. She averages 5.64 digs per set, which ranks first in the BIG EAST and second in NCAA Division I. Pride has recorded 299 digs through 15 matches.
Sophomore Audrey Kocon (Shoreview, Minn.) leads the BIG EAST in aces per set, averaging 0.57. She has recorded 107 kills, 186 assists, 26 aces, 113 digs and 33 blocks.
SCOUTING ST. JOHN'S… The Red Storm enter the weekend with a 4-11 record and are 0-2 in the BIG EAST. Most recently, St. John's fell to Villanova (3-2) and Georgetown (3-0).
Senior Erin Jones leads the team in kills, with 177.
Freshman Martina Capponcelli has recorded a team-high 296 assists, and is averaging 5.58 assists per set
Junior Rashanny Solano Smith leads the Red Storm's defense with 189 digs. She averages 3.50 digs per set.
SCOUTING SETON HALL… The Pirates enter the weekend with a 6-7 record and 0-2 mark in the BIG EAST. Most recently, Seton Hall fell to Georgetown (3-1) and Villanova (3-0).
Freshman Sadie Reich leads the Pirates' offense with 175 kills. She is averaging 3.65 per set which ranks seventh in the BIG EAST.
Sophomore Gwen Alder ranks eighth in the BIG EAST with 6.09 assists per set. She has recorded 262 assists overall.
Junior Rylee Nelson leads the team in digs with 127. She ranks fifth in the BIG EAST, averaging 3.85 digs per set.
Senior Asli Subasili averages 1.10 blocks per set which ranks fifth in the BIG EAST. She has tallied 53 blocks.
