PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College women's hockey team defeated No. 9/9 Clarkson University, 2-1, on Friday, Oct. 17, at Schneider Arena to earn its first win of the season. The Friars improved to 1-4-0 on the season, while Clarkson fell to 2-3-0. Senior
Reichen Kirchmair (Oakville, Ontario) netted the game-winning goal for the Friars, the 11th of her career.

-Clarkson opened the scoring on the power play at 7:33 of the first period from Raedyn Spademan. Madison Chantler and Sara Manness were credited the assists.
-At 16:53 of the first period, the Golden Knights appeared to make it 2-0 on a goal from Greta Brezenski, but Providence challenged for goaltender interference. After review, the goal was overturned, keeping the score 1-0.
-Providence tied the game on the power play at 9:59 of the second period on a goal from senior
Cristina Cavaliere (Mississauga, Ontario). It marked Cavaliere's first appearance and first goal of the season. Senior

Kayla Kutes (Kirkland, Wash.) was assessed a five-minute major for checking from behind at 9:17 of the third period. The Friars successfully killed off the penalty.

Hope Walinski (Lincoln, R.I.) registered 33 saves in the win.
-Providence improves to 4-7-1 all-time against Clarkson, securing its first win in the series since October 2010.
-The Friars secured their first ranked win of the season. The last ranked win came on Feb. 15, 2025 against No. 14/14 UConn (W, 4-2). Providence earned seven ranked wins last season.
