PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College men's soccer team (4-6-1, 2-2-0 BIG EAST) are set to host the Marquette University Golden Eagles (5-4-2, 0-4-0 BIG EAST) on Friday, Oct. 17 at 7:00 p.m. on Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium in Providence, R.I. The game will be streamed on Friars Live.

SCOUTING THE FRIARS
The Friars enter Friday's match after a road loss to St. John's, 3-2.
Vasco Teixeira (Arrentela, Portugal) and
Sam Montalto (Stonington, Conn.) each recorded a goal for the Friars.
Through nine games, the Friars have outshot opponents 142-102, which comes to an average of 12.9 shots per game. They also hold a 64-45 advantage in shots on target and hold a 65-33 advantage in corner kicks. Seniors

Sam Montalto lead the team in points, both registering nine.
Ian Abbey (Elmer, N.J.) has put together a strong senior campaign, registering eight points on three goals and two assists. Freshman
Angelo Ventrella (Toronto, Canada) and junior
Fernando Garcia Gil (Granada, Spain) have been consistent offensive threats for the Friars, each scoring two goals in their first season with the team.

Cameron Yriondo (Sammamish, Wash.),
Vasco Teixeira and
Khayr Ogunsanya (Sicklerville, N.J.) all have recorded one goal on the year.
Defensively, the Friars have conceded 14 goals while holding opponents to nine shots per game. Redshirt-freshman goalkeeper

AWARDS AND RECOGNITION
It was announced on Sept. 29 that senior
Sam Montalto was named to the
BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll. Montalto registered two goals in a 1-0-1 week for the Friars, tallying the equalizer in the 90
th minute in a 1-1 draw with Brown, as well as adding a goal in a 3-2 win at Xavier.
It was announced on Oct. 6 that senior
Bruno Rosa was named the
BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week. Rosa registered five points in the Friars' 5-0 win over Villanova, tallying two goals and an assist. Rosa became the first Friar to receive this recognition since Liam McSorley in 2023.
Two returners earned All-BIG EAST honors last season for the Friars. Rosa earned All-BIG EAST Second Team. Senior midfielder
Diego Batista (Barcelos, Portugal) was named to the All-BIG EAST Third Team. Both Rosa and Batista were named to the 2025 Preseason All-BIG EAST Team on Aug. 19.
SCOUTING THE GOLDEN EAGLES
Marquette comes in to Providence searching for its first BIG EAST point of the season. The Golden Eagles sit at 5-4-2 overall and 0-4-0 in the BIG EAST and are coming off a 2-1 defeat at Butler where they registered their first BIG EAST goal of the season. Marquette has outshot its opponents 166-111 with a 64-50 advantage in shots on target. Senior Mitchell Dryden leads the attack for the Golden Eagles, tallying nine points on four goals and one assist. The Golden Eagles are looking for their first win against the Friars since 2013.
