It was a beautiful day on the course honoring a Friar Legend and fueling the future of the men’s basketball program.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – On Oct. 6, Providence College Athletics hosted the Patrick Mee '83 Memorial Vision Cup, presented by Santander, at Newport Country Club. Proceeds from the event will directly benefit the men's basketball program, with over $175,000 dollars raised.

The day began with a special speaking series featuring Head Coach Kim English, who offered an inside look at the team ahead of its first exhibition game on Sunday, Oct. 19 at the University of Pittsburgh. Joining him was graduate student Jason Edwards, a native of Atlanta, Ga., who addressed supporters and shared his excitement for the upcoming season. The student-athlete portion of the event was sponsored by Amica.
During the post-tournament luncheon, Athletic Director Steve Napolillo expressed his appreciation to Friar fans and paid tribute to the remarkable legacy of Patrick Mee '83, a lifelong supporter of Friar Athletics. Attendees were joined by Mee's family and colleagues, who shared stories and fond memories in celebration of his enduring impact on Friartown.

"Pat Mee embodied everything it means to be a loyal Friar," Athletic Director Steve Napolillo said. "This event not only honors his incredible legacy but also strengthens the future of our men's basketball program. We're deeply grateful to the Mee Family, Santander and Amica for their generous support in making the Vision Cup possible and helping us celebrate Pat's impact on Friartown."

"It was great to connect with our Friar family at the Vision Cup and feel the energy behind our program," Head Coach, Kim English said. "Honoring Pat Mee's legacy made the day even more meaningful. His passion for Friar Athletics continues to inspire us. We have an exciting year ahead of us and I'm looking forward to seeing everyone at the Amica Mutual Pavilion this year."

"The Vision Cup was an awesome experience," men's basketball student-athlete Jason Edwards said. "Seeing the support from Friar fans and sponsors like Santander and Amica means a lot."
