Women’s Hockey Drops Home Contest To Boston College, 5-1

Sami Snyder scored her first collegiate goal in the loss.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College women's hockey team was defeated by Boston College, 5-1, on Saturday, Oct. 11, at Schneider Arena. The Friars dropped to 0-4-0 on the season and 0-2-0 in Hockey East play, while Boston College improved to 3-2-0 and 2-0-0. Freshman Sami Snyder (Waterloo, Ontario) scored the lone goal for the Friars, marking the first of her collegiate career.

GAME FLOW & NOTES
  
-Boston College opened the scoring 7:44 into the first period on a goal by Sammy Taber, assisted by Ava Thomas and Kate Ham.
 
-Thomas doubled the lead with 4:43 remaining in the opening frame, assisted by Madelyn Murphy.
 
-On the power play, Ham made it 3-0 at 18:20 of the first period with assists from Taber and Murphy.
 
-Freshman Mallory Hartl (Askov, Minn.) entered the game in goal to start the second period, marking her first collegiate appearance.
 
-Midway through the second period, Thomas scored her second goal of the game assisted by Taber, to extend the lead to 4-0.
 
-Murphy added a goal of her own later in the frame, recording her third point of the game. Sage Babey and Alanna Devlin picked up assists.
 
-In the third period, freshman Sami Snyder (Waterloo, Ontario) put the Friars on the board with her first collegiate goal. Sophomore Emma Hofbauer (Vomperbach, Austrai) and senior Kayla Kutes (Kirkland, Wash.) assisted on the play.
 
-Graduate student Hope Walinski (Lincoln, R.I.) made seven saves for Providence, while Hartl stopped 19 shots in relief.
 
-Providence falls to 60-49-4 all-time against Boston College. The teams will meet again on Friday, Jan. 16 at Conte Forum in Chestnut Hill, Mass.
