PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The Providence College men's soccer team (2-1-1) is scheduled to host the Rutgers Scarlet Knights (3-1) on Friday, Sept. 6. The Friars will have another home match against Ocean State foe Rhode Island (3-0) on Monday, Sept. 9. Both matches will kick-off at 7:00 p.m. on Chapey field at Anderson Stadium in Providence, R.I., and will be streamed on FloSports.

The Friars enter the week with a 2-1-1 record. Providence is coming off a 2-1 comeback win against the UMass Minutemen on Sept. 2 in Amherst, Mass.
KEY PLAYERS
Graduate transfer
Pepe Lora (Madrid, Spain) has made a significant impact for the Friar offense in his debut season at PC with three goals in four games. Lora netted both goals in the Friars' 2-0 victory over Quinnipiac on August 22, earning him a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll (Aug.26). He also scored the game-winning goal against UMass to secure the Friars' second win of the season.
Vasco Teixeira (Arrentela, Portugal) enters his rookie season with the Friars. Teixeira earned the starting spot at left back and has recorded a team-best two assists.
Aidan Davock (Medway, Mass.), a graduate transfer from Colgate University, has recorded six shots and two points over four games. Davock scored the equalizing goal in the 1-1 tie at Boston College (Aug.26).

Lukas Burns (Cinnaminson, N.J.) has played all 360 minutes in goal for Providence this season. Burns has recorded 10 saves, one shutout and boasts a .714 save percentage.

Rutgers enters this week with a 3-1 overall record and a two-game win streak. The Scarlet Knights most recently shutout Lehigh, 2-0, on Sept.2.
Rutgers has consistently struck first in all four games this season, with each of their four goals coming within the opening 11 minutes of play.
Senior Curt Calov leads the team's offense with nine points on four goals and one assist. Calov has netted all four of his goals this season in the first eight minutes of play.
Rutgers captain Joey Zalinsky was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week on Aug. 27 after he recorded four points on two assists and one goal over the first two games of the season.
Ciaran Dalton has played every minute in net for the Scarlet Knights. Ciaran has recorded one shutout and 15 saves, while conceding six goals. He currently holds a 1.71 goals against average and a .714 save percentage.

Rhode Island enters the week with a 3-0 record. Before facing the Friars, the Rams will take on the Harvard Crimson on Sept. 5.
The Rams tied a program record and achieved their first 3-0 start to a season for the first time since 2018 and seventh time overall. Each of the Rams' victories this season have been shutouts, and they enter the week with six-straight shutouts dating back to the end of the 2023 season. URI holds the nation's second-largest active shutout streak.
This week (Sept. 3), it was announced that Rhode Island received eight votes in the latest United Soccer Coaches Top 25 Poll and sixth in the Southeast Region Poll.
Four players have recorded a goal for the Rams. Patrick Gryczewski leads the charge with three points on one goal and one assist.
Goalkeeper Edu Rodriguez has played in two of the Ram's three games this season. Rodriguez has a perfect 1.000 save percentage with 13 saves.
UP NEXT
The Friars will travel to face another Rhode-Island rival and defending American East Conference champions, Bryant University (1-0-1) on Sept. 14 in Smithfield R.I. The contest is slated for 7:30 p.m. and will be available for stream on ESPN+.
The Friars hold an 18-3 all-time series record against the Bulldogs. The last time the two teams met was in 2017 when Providence defeated Bryant, 3-0, in Providence, R.I.
