OMAHA, NEB. – The Providence College volleyball team was defeated by No. 6 Creighton, 3-0, on Friday, Sept. 27 in Omaha, Neb.
Shaliyah Rhoden paced the Friars with 8 kills.
FIRST SET HIGHLIGHTS: Creighton won the first set, 25-10.
- Creighton jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead and forced Providence to call a timeout.
- The Friars chipped away and narrowed the score to 10-6.
- The Bluejays were able to extend their lead to 15-7.
- Creighton maintained its lead and won the set 25-10.
SECOND SET HIGHLIGHTS: Creighton won the second set, 25-12.
- Providence got out to a quick 3-0 lead in the second set.
- The Bluejays went on a 10-0 run to take a 10-3 advantage, forcing Providence to take a timeout.
- The Friars chipped away and narrowed Creighton's lead to 12-7.
- Creighton finished the set on a 13-5 run to take a 2-0 lead.
- Rhoden led the Friars with six kills through set two.
THIRD SET HIGHLIGHTS: Creighton won the third set, 25-13, to capture the match, 3-0.
- Creighton jumped out to a 5-1 lead.
- The Bluejays extended their lead to 13-5, forcing Providence to take a timeout.
- Rhoden recorded a kill to bring the score to 18-9.
- Creighton maintained its lead throughout the set to win the match 3-0.
MATCH NOTES:
- Rhoden led the Friars offense with eight kills.
- Macy Taylor registered nine digs for Providence.
- Lyric Berry led Providence with three blocks.
