Volleyball Set To Begin BIG EAST Competition On The Road

The Friars will travel to No. 6 Creighton and Marquette on opening weekend of league play.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College volleyball team has concluded its non-conference schedule and will begin BIG EAST competition this weekend with road games against No. 6 Creighton and Marquette. The Friars will take on the sixth-ranked Bluejays on Friday, Sept. 27 at 7:00 p.m. (ET) and Marquette on Sunday, Sept. 29 at 2:00 p.m. (ET).

SCOUTING THE FRIARS… The Friars enter BIG EAST play with a 7-4 record. Most recently, the Friars played in the Dartmouth Invitational, where they defeated Siena (3-0) and Quinnipiac (3-2) and fell to Dartmouth (1-3). Shaliyah Rhoden and Lyric Berry each received All-Tournament Honors.
Shaliyah Rhoden (Rowlett, Texas) leads the Friars' offense with 120 kills.
Kayla Grant (Rowlett, Texas) has recorded 94 kills and leads the BIG EAST with a hitting percentage of .448. She also leads the Friars with 46 blocks, averaging 1.07 blocks per set.
Jiji Lykins (Coral Spring, Fla.) ranks sixth in the BIG EAST with an average of 3.43 digs per set. She has tallied a total of 151 digs through 11 matches.
Audrey Kocon (Shoreview, Minn.) has recorded 54 kills, 77 digs, 25 blocks and 17 aces.
SCOUTING CREIGHTON… The Bluejay's enter the weekend ranked sixth in the nation and own a 9-2 record. Most recently, they played in the Jayhawk Classic, where they defeated No. 6 Purdue (3-1) and No. 10 Kansas (3-0).
As a team, the Bluejays rank 16th among NCAA Division I programs in assist per set (13.13), 19th in kills per set (14.05), 20th in blocks per set (2.74) and 27th in hitting percentage (2.74).
Senior Norah Sis leads the Bluejay offense with 154 kills and ranks third in the BIG EAST with 3.95 kills per set.
Senior Kaira Reinhardt ranks first in the BIG EAST and 24th in NCAA Division I with 1.41 blocks per set and has tallied 49 blocks.
Senior Maddy Bilinovic leads Creighton with 158 digs and averages 4.05 digs a set.
SCOUTING MARQUETTE… The Golden Eagles enter the weekend with a 4-5 record. Most recently, Marquette defeated East Carolina (3-0) and fell to No. 1 Pittsburgh (0-3).
Redshirt senior Aubrey Hamilton leads Marquette's offense with 100 kills. Hamilton has also notched 77 digs, five aces and 28 blocks.
Graduate student Carsen Murray ranks third in the BIG EAST with a hitting percentage of .383 and has tallied 73 kills and 29 blocks.
Graduate student Yadhira Anchante leads Marquette with 340 assists and ranks second in the BIG EAST averaging 10.30 assists per set.
