PROVIDENCE, R.I. – PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The USTFCCCA released its latest Regional and National Coaches' Poll on Sept. 17. The Providence College women's cross country team is ranked No. 1 in the Northeast Region and No. 10 in the nation. The Friar men's cross country team is ranked fourth in the Northeast Region.
The Providence College men's and women's cross-country teams were idle last week. In the Friars' last meet at the Friar Invitational in Attleboro, Mass. on Sept. 6, Friar graduate student
Shannon Flockhart (Cambridge, England) won the women's race (4k) in a time of 14:13.49 and led the team to a first-place finish over three other teams. It marked the fifth-consecutive year that the Friar women's team has won the Friar Invitational. Providence senior
Michael Morgan (Sligo, Ireland) won the men's race (6k) in a time of 18:11.48, leading the Friar men's team to a first-place finish overall.
The Friar men's and women's teams will return to action on Friday, September 27 at the Nuttycombe Invitational at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wis., beginning at 1:20 p.m. ET. The women's race features 16 teams ranked in the top-30 in the latest national poll and the men's race has 16 teams ranked in the top-30 nationally.
