PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College men's hockey program announced its non-conference schedule on Tuesday, June 25. The Friars are set to pay 11 non-conference regular season games, including five match-ups against NCHC programs.
After an exhibition contest on the road at Union College on Oct. 5, Providence will open the regular season on the road at North Dakota in the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Game on Oct. 12. The Friars' last visit to Grand Forks came in 2014.
Homecoming weekend (Oct. 18-19) will see the first visit by Arizona State to Schneider Arena. The teams split a two-game series in Tempe, Arizona last season.
Providence rounds out its home non-conference slate with a single game against Long Island University (Nov. 23) and a two-game set against Colorado College (Dec. 6-7). It will be the first meeting in program history against LIU, while the Friars and Tigers will battle for the first time since 2015.
The Friars will compete in two midseason tournaments, the Adirondack Winter Invitational in Lake Placid, New York (Nov. 29-30) and the Ledyard Classic in Hanover, New Hampshire from Dec. 28-29. In Lake Placid, the Friars will open up against St. Lawrence before facing off against either Clarkson or UMass Lowell. Match-ups for the Ledyard Classic will be announced at a later time - Alaska-Anchorage, Northeastern and Dartmouth will be the other teams in the field.
The non-conference slate concludes with the annual Mayor's Cup at Brown University on Tuesday, Jan. 7.
The full 2024-25 schedule will be announced at a later date.
