LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Providence Friars competed on the third day at the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Track and Field East Preliminary competition on Friday May 24 at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Ky.
Senior Pat Thygesen (Brisbane, Australia) ran in the 3,000 meter steeplechase quarterfinal. Thygesen was in third place during the second lap before falling. He went on to finish the race in a time of 9:12.38.
The Friars will return to the track on Saturday for the final day of action when junior Kimberley May (Auckland, New Zealand) and senior Shannon Flockhart (Longstanton, England) will run in the 1,500 meters quarterfinals at 5:15 p.m. Following the 1,500 meters, freshman Maeve O'Neill (Cork, Ireland) will run the 800 meters quarterfinal at 7:05 p.m.
