PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Four members of the Providence College men's swimming and diving program earned All-BIG EAST recognition by virtue of their performances as the 2024 BIG EAST Swimming & Diving Championships held February 28 – March 2 in Indianapolis, Ind.
Headlining the All-BIG EAST performers is senior
Will Layden, who won individual titles in the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle for the second-consecutive season. He also claimed All-BIG EAST recognition as a member of the 200-yard freestyle relay team.
Layden swam the anchor leg of the 200-yard freestyle relay, joining fellow teammates
McGovern Brown,
Alex Beauchene and
Nathan Thayer, en route to a second-place finish in the event (1:20.85). It marked the highest finish in any relay at the BIG EAST Championships in program history and their time also set a school record.
In addition to earning being recognized as an All-BIG EAST performer in three events and winning two individual titles, Layden was named Most Outstanding Swimmer at the conclusion of the four-day conference championship.
Layden has won a program-best four individual titles in his career, claiming the 50-yard free and 100-yard free in back-to-back seasons (2023, 2024).
